Re: 44 overpair.

I think preflop may be close. I'd probably fold. You're getting around 3 to 1 on your money. For set value, you'll need to make up around 5 BB's. I think that's probably a stretch.

Flop, I would...

Re: Kinda sick JJ hand

[ QUOTE ]
This also leaves the initiative with mp, so he may continue to bet his one pair or big draw hand on the turn, allowing you to raise and shut out the field.

Re: Kinda sick JJ hand

I've been thinking about this hand for like 30 minutes, and I still don't have a good answer.

I could cop out by saying, just call down, the pot is big.

I think the difficulty here is putting...

Re: Basics: blind battle

Flop. against a total unknown, i go into call down mode.
Turn. see flop. I call down.
River. well, this is a spot I sexy sometimes if I was villain. I think I just bet/call. I would bet/fold with a...

Re: This is a lot of action considering I have a boat

1) looks good to me.

2) After he caps, I call and will check/call the river unless a T comes on the river. Then I would bet/3-bet.

I guess I just side with the people who read that the turn cap...

Re: makes this cbet any sense?

it depends. Two important factors (there may be more) are:

1. What are the preflop tendencies of the people to act behind you. If you can get Ax heads up, then you should be fairly happy. Even A2o...

Re: makes this cbet any sense?

I iso raise a loose passive with A5o here as well. But I usually do it wanting to have the hand be HU or 3 way against a weak BB.

I don't c-bet here often. I don't think your hand has the equity...

Re: anything wrong with this?

I think this is bad advice. You raise preflop because you have an equity advantage. You sometimes don't c-bet because you don't have an equity advantage depending on the board texture and because...

Re: folding TPMK

I play hand 1 the same. You have to seriously discount your outs here as UTG, and the reverse implied odds if you improve put you in bad shape. Preflop, I'd want a read that the button, SB and BB do...

Re: big multiway pot with set, I only put in 1 raise postflop

like jstill says, I think one of the primary reasons to raise the flop is so that SB can 3-bet.

Re: SB preflop question

I know this message board likes to raise or fold, but you'll see me sometimes press that third button and cold call or overcall. I think the raise/fold rule is usually correct, nearly always, but...

Re: HUGE pot with top2

AA, AK 14 combos
KK, JJ 2 combos, but would he really check the river? only if he was going for a pretty fancy non-standard check/raise, IMO

I think a raise seems right. The pot is so huge that...

Re: Dealing with LAGs

when I do tilt against lags and become "obsessed with beating them," I know I'm not in the correct poker mindset overall. You shouldn't try to beat players per se, but try to make the correct plays...

Re: Dealing with LAGs

Is a 30/20 a LAGTAG? I was under the impression that a 30/20 was a TAG. I'm still fairly new to 6 max however. What does a TAG's preflop stats look like?

Re: Hmm, let\'s call this a marginal 87o hand

[ QUOTE ]
While having position on a field is great in poker, having no idea with any reasonable certainty what 3 other players in the hand with you terribly sucks. Your hand is 8-high, which means...

Re: 88 - probably just a math problem.

On an aside: If we switched roles and were the button hypothetically holding AK. Does anyone take this line and bet the river? What about with KQ?

Re: Hmm, let\'s call this a marginal 87o hand

I think you may be right that folding may be better on the flop, but like you say it seems close.

You are pretty vulnerable to redraws even if you do improve or have the best hand. If you do have...

Re: Hmm, let\'s call this a marginal 87o hand

Scorcho,

It would be more helpful if you elaborated with some explicit reasons on why you think 87o is a bad limp. I personally like it because SB is a TAG, so will not often raise without fairly...

Re: Hmm, let\'s call this a marginal 87o hand

I like the preflop limp. SB and BB are unlikely to raise, and you are getting great implied odds with the BB and maniac in the hand with you. Also you have great position. I don't like a raise much,...

Re: Advice needed

Guy,

When I have had -BB/100 streaks for long periods of time, albeit not nearly as long runs as you, I can't help but start tilting. Usually in more ways then one. And tilt just kills your win...

Re: preflop adjustments if sandwitched

Why don't you want to play A9o with a loose passive and a maniac? I personally think it's a great hand to play with.

With the loose passive on your right and the maniac on your left, who by your...

Re: Good spot for a donk heads-up?

like slamhound said, if donking is your standard play with a made hand here, donking your draws is okay.

but I prefer using a c/r line to a donking line because when you do have a made hand, you...

Re: Another paired board special - blind battle with wildman

jba,

could you explain why we still call the river if we raise the turn and he 3 bets or he donks river. I assume it is because you think villain sees the turn raise as a semibluff often enough...

Re: AQ and a questionable turn play

I usually start calling down after being c/r on that turn. I don't think your hand is best often enough to warrant a 3-bet. Once you are capped, the pot is fairly bloated at that point. 9.5 BB. I...
