Default This is a lot of action considering I have a boat

First hand at a new table. Stars $3/6. No info on main opponent.

UTG, CO and SB limp. I check T3o in the BB comme il faut.

Flop: JTT, two hearts. SB checks, I bet, UTG and CO call, SB folds. I have mild kicker worries.

Turn: 3. I bet, UTG folds, CO raises, I threebet.

Question 1) okay so far?
Question 2) he's about to cap. I assume nobody wants to fold. What's your river line and what cards would change it?

Guy.

looks good so far. when he caps I dont really love life but I probably bet/call the river. if the river is a jack or a 3 I check call. if it's a ten I bet/3bet.

limps with a cap on the turn can include:
33(1), T7s(1), T8s(1), T9s(1), T9o(3), JT(3), QT(4), KT(4), AT(4), JJ(1/3)
River:
A it's AT,JT,JJ that beat us = (4-1)+3+1/23 = 7/23
K it's KT,JT,JJ = 7/23
Q it's QT,JT,JJ = 7/23
J it's JT,JJ = 3/23
T we win
9 it's JT,T9 = (4-1)+3/23 = 6/23 (probably overvalued)

So long story short: Even if a broadway card did fall on the river at most 7/23 combinations beat you. I would go for a c/r-call line if I saw a A-Q card on the river. Otherwise I lead/3-bet/call.

hmm by my count pot is 11BB by the end of the turn. If an A fell on the river:

EV(b/c) = 13BB*16/23 - 2BB*7/23 = 9-0.6 = 8.4BB
EV(c/r-call) = 14BB*16/23 - 3BB*7/23 = 9.7-0.9 = 8.8BB
EV(cap) = 15BB*16/23 - 4BB*7/23 = 10.4-1.2 = 9.2BB

Hmmm...

If I take out T9o and T7s

EV(b/c) = 13BB*12/19 - 2BB*7/19 = 8.2-0.7 = 7.5B
EV(c/r-call) = 14BB*12/19 - 3BB*7/19 = 8.8-1.1 = 7.7BB
EV(cap) = 15BB*12/19 - 4BB*7/19 = 9.5-1.5 = 8BB

Interesting... capping is still favorite.

God numbers, but for one thing...

everyone loves jack ten.

Don't you find that JT is an inordinately large part of every opponent's range at all times?

Guy.

lol i know ur kind of joking anyways but JT isnt any more of his range than T9 or QT and T8s KT or AT still make up alot here (altho CO will probably raise the latter two preflop some of the time).

I think the 3bet on the turn is obvious then bet call the river if he just calls (maybe 3betting if the river is in the 2-7 range, thinking its more likely hes making a spewy raise call here with trips than he "slowplayed" a better boat on the turn or the river improved him to a better boat with something like T5 he limped in with, this is kinda reads tho)

if he caps the turn this is a spot where i dont seem to see eye to eye with a lot of other good posters. Id never bet call after he caps, i dont think people raise trips even with an ace kicker very often when u still lead the river or ck behind anything they capped the turn with enough to make bet call better than ck call.

If i felt this guy was spewy perhaps and could limp tons of worse trip hands then way overplay them postflop or i had a stronger hand (JT with a river 9 or something), id prefer ck raise call or bet 3bet to bet call just about everytime (not saying those are the best lines here or in the examples i mentioned in passing just saying i very rarely would bet call in a spot like this and in general think the other two lines ck call or cr call/cap are preferable (deciding between them based upon how far ahead of his range we are likely to be with a given hand on a given board based on the action).
