HUGE pot with top2
UTG is same UTG from my set post, 59/5/.7 after 96 hands now
BB is 26/20/2.6 over 2.3k hands, I've played with him a bunch and haven't seen him get too out of line 4 handed preflop: UTG limps, I raise OTB with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], SB folds, BB 3bets, UTG calls, I call flop: J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] BINGO BB bets, UTG calls, I raise, BB 3bets, UTG calls, I call turn: 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] BB bets, UTG calls, I raise, BB 3bets, UTG calls, I cap, BB calls, UTG calls is the cap too much? I think BB can have AA or AK as well as KK JJ maybe KJ when he 3bets, sounds reasonable? river: 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] BB checks, UTG bets (a big wtf), I call I am going for the overcall. should I have raised? I'm pretty sure I beat UTG, but I'm not 100% ahead of BB here. |

Re: HUGE pot with top2
When BB checks the river I think we can rule out KK or JJ which he would bet against that brick river. I see UTG with worse two pair most of the time. I think I just call anyways, the pot is so big, lets just get to showdown.

Re: HUGE pot with top2
I cap the flop first time around with two players in; BB is likely betting the turn either way.

Re: HUGE pot with top2
I cap the flop, and if BB still leads the turn I'm calling down.

Re: HUGE pot with top2
ur almost always ahead of both after they way the hands played out, but I still think goin for the overcall is the best course of action on the river.

Re: HUGE pot with top2
AA, AK 14 combos
KK, JJ 2 combos, but would he really check the river? only if he was going for a pretty fancy non-standard check/raise, IMO I think a raise seems right. The pot is so huge that the BB is probably committed to calling down AA or AK at this point. I think capping the turn is fine. BB probably 3-bets AK or AA on the turn after you stop and go raise him. |

[ QUOTE ]
I cap the flop, and if BB still leads the turn I'm calling down. [/ QUOTE ] I don't like a flop cap because we are tipping off the strength of our hand and are much less likely to get in multiple big bets while ahead on the big streets. ie is villain going to c/r the turn with AK or AA after we cap the flop? I don't think it's too likely. also we should take advantage of our great relative position to make a hugely profitable turn raise trapping the field for 2 big bets. why do you like the flop cap? I guess we find out where we are sooner, but I think we are missing out on too much value. |

Re: HUGE pot with top2
Flop: IMO, calling the flop 3bet with intentions of raising the turn is fine. You are definitely ahead often enough if BB's range is AA/AK/KK/JJ (maybe discounted KQ) and UTG's is almost any two. BB is always betting the turn when you don't cap the flop, and you can to trap UTG for BBs.
Turn: I think the turn cap is a bit excessive, though, assuming BB is a solid player. When you raise the turn, you should be able to beat BB's AK. Since you can't have AA (no preflop cap), the weakest hand you should raise the turn with is probably KJ. When BB 3bets your turn raise, I think you have to calldown and hope he is overplaying AA/AK. What hand/range can BB put you on that he is beating enough to 3-bet the turn? You don't have AK/AA cuz of preflop, and you would be spewing w/ KQ. Of course, this entire line of thinking is absolutely wrong once BB checks the river, but you don't know that at this point. River: As played, WTF-go-for-overcall seems like the play. |

Re: HUGE pot with top2
i wouldnt cap the Flop as i wouldnt cap the Turn as played. the River is close too, i think raising and calling are both fine.
