Re: post your training schedule

[ QUOTE ]
Right now I do BJJ 3X a week, but I plan on increasing my training, hopefully with some Muay Thai, when I start studying for the bar in May. Are you gonna study 12 hours a day?

Re: post your training schedule

In my experience, everyone will always be significantly stepping up their training in the near future. And of course, as soon as I pass the bar exam I will be getting back into training.

Re: Some BJJ questions

[ QUOTE ]

1. By 'real life encounter' do you mean a street fight? If so, my answer is never. BJJ is not a streetfighting system. Trying to win a streetfight by taking someone down and trying to...

Re: BJJ school: Martial Arts Beginner

I agree with CaucasionAsian's comments. The place looks legit and I would imagine runs between $100 and $150 per month. You might feel out of place, but everyone does the first time they train, so...

Re: Aikido = wtf?

Again, when people play along with your "moves" it's not hard to look good. As you see in the second video, that guy actually sucks.

Whitepotato,

Thanks for the help. How long have you done BJJ, and why do you study it? Are you concerned that doing ground fighting IRL might leave you open to getting attacked by a 3rd...

Re: Some BJJ questions

Most places start all beginners out with a gi, because it helps you learn lots of basic stuff. I think that is a good idea, I would not have learned technique as fast no gi because the gi acts as a...

Where in Chicago? There are lots of schools in the city and suburbs, most of them I don't much about. I have never trained in the city, only in northwest Indiana. There are a few schools around the...

That video was terrible. No resistance = no real life applicability. That guy was not only not resisting, but playing along. Why can't this guy put out a tape of him competing in an actual ring...

Re: Does this look like a good MMA school?

I didn't look too much into it, but I cannot endorse any school where bjj and muy thai each are taught only 1 day per week. Training something at least 3 times a week is 1000 times better than once...
