Confucious say, "man who believe that video, is man not likely to take chill pills, but instead will over-react to most things he meets."

Again, when people play along with your "moves" it's not hard to look good. As you see in the second video, that guy actually sucks.

That is unlike any aikido I've ever seen. I just finished a 6 hour seminar this past Saturday and not one of the 7 black belts would have taken that stuff seriously.

Gimme someone like Saito Sensei any day of the week.

If you like the jo staff stuff, here's some more from Saito Sensei.

I think people like from the OP's video see some of the stuff that Ueshiba did when he was in his 70's and 80's and think that the no-touch throws are what aikido was all about. But if they'd seen Ueshiba when he was younger, they'd see how hard aikido really is. The early dojo that he instructed was nicknamed Hell Dojo and was full of judo and kendo black belts.

So.... how many underage and malnourished muay thai fighters would it take to beat him?

I submit that it would only take one since, gasp, they wouldnt play along with teh hand holding.

Im sorry but 99% of Aikido looks like a Steven Segal movie, one of the later ones where he is fat and where the bad guys line up and willfully get owned mostly.

I think that the key here is active resistance and I feel that without that a martial art is nothing more than a traditional art (it's then similar to Qi gong, tai chi, etc). Aikido can be beautiful but it's hardly on par with "functional" martial arts. Martial arts that have had proven worth as demonstrated in MMA (MMA fights are the lab that martial arts developers never had... all the jumping crane kicks and no touch knockouts and death touch junk is lost in favor of what works and if often brutally simple)

I will say though that aikido, jkd, kung fu, etc make for better action movie plots than bjj/sambo.... Even Chuck Norris couldnt make a movie where he just put people in triangles cool.
