Re: WSEX: Official Monthly Thread: August. (#12 of 12.)

You missed a key point of my argument, something nobody seems to think of:
"Whether they know why or not, they will perform better."
You see, they may not care or think about rake back, but they DO...

Re: WSEX: Official Monthly Thread: August. (#12 of 12.)

I for one am all for contributed rakeback. I know that it will help the players who play more hands and win more pots the most. That's what I'm hoping for. whether they know why or not they will...

Re: QQ on WPX

Thanks guys.

I just imagined myself in his shoes and thought I might play 66-JJ the same way. He could have checked the flop because he's afraid of the king, and then bet the turn because he's...

Re: Let me clarify

It woudn't be correct for them to call one bet if you KNEW it was going to be raised behind them (unless it's correct for them to call two bets cold anyway).

Re: Poker Ethics Question

One thing not often considered (but that is given a brief mention in TPFAP) is that it is sometimes in your best interests to save the all-in player when it doesn't cost anything to do so. This could...

QQ on WPX

I'm playing a 2/4 game on WPX.
The BB is a player I see all the time on WPX, and he's never out of line that I can see.
His name is Satyre (or something like that, I don't remember the exact...

Re: 99, big heart in my chest but none in my hand

I use that play a lot when I think I have some chance of having the best hand and am forced to at least call (particularly when I can improve to a big hand). It works best HU, but can also work...

Re: Good cards, Bad turn

For EP, the preflop action suggests a pocket pair, and the postflop action suggests a set or 88 for a straight. UTG could have all of the above plus two big diamonds. Since you have the nut diamond,...

Re: 99, big heart in my chest but none in my hand

The SB is not going to try to bluff a bettor and a caller, both of which are solid players. He almost certainly has a flush. I think a fold is prudent.

Re: $20/$40 hand

I don't thiink the BB would check the turn with any made hand here. When he checks the turn, you can pretty much put him on a draw of some kind. Of course this won't always be true, but most of the...

Let me clarify

You're absolutely right!
You would rather have that gutshot put in two bets incorrectly than fold correctly. The problem is that if you bet right out, there is no guarantee that it will get raised....

Re: I\'d like to give some advice to beginners

I'd like to give the beginners some advice:
The only thing Acid said that made sense is that you can't judge a play by it's results.

Re: Playing Well against Rookies

Since that last post probably wasn't too helpful, I thought I'd add this piece of advice:
These sorts of new/casual players are usually the easiest to read. They hardly ever bluff, they fold their...

If you can't beat those players, then you have a lot to learn.

Re: I have an ethics question....

Listen guys, who'd really making the ethical mistake here? The BB for asking, or the button for telling? I see people make a folding motion out of turn all the time. Would you fault the BB for...
