Re: No such thing as a random card/number generator

Thanks, I hadn't seen the paradise one before. I had looked through the party and stars pages.

At Paradise Poker, we chose to use a 31 bit random function (coming from a 2016 bit seed...

Re: No such thing as a random card/number generator

Does anyone know whether online sites use a hardware based solution similar to those above?

It seems like there is enough random data available to them (e.g., network delays, players reaction...

Re: No such thing as a random card/number generator

[ QUOTE ]
Of course there is such a thing as a real random number generator.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sorry, I should have been more specific. In software, there is not such thing as a 'true' random number...

Re: No such thing as a random card/number generator

You are right in that random number generators (RNGs) are programs, so you can argue that they are not 'truly' random.

The best RNGs use outside influences such as network delays, interrupt...

Re: Trying to learn when to check the turn

I think the flop bet is marginal. The main thing that worries me is that it's against three others, but the board may have missed the cold callers, so I don't think it's terrible.

I would...

Re: Top pair, no kicker, bad turn card, small pot

Miles, can you elaborate a bit on that sentence?

I think I get what you're saying, but am not really sure, as my brain isn't comprehending it very well.

Thanks.

Re: drowned in the river again

I think ATo is good enough for a raise here. You really don't want to play multiway with this hand, and just getting the blinds is not a bad thing here. It also gives you a bit more info on the...

Re: Top pair, no kicker, bad turn card, small pot

I like a turn bet here.

If neither of them has a K that is a scary card for them also and folds are likely.

If one of them has the K they are raising here (most likely), and you'll have odds to...

Loose steal attempt gets 3-bet

Fairly early in session. I have a couple of players down as probably LPPs, but they have folded already preflop. The rest of the table has been tight so far, so I decided to go for a steal here.

Re: Ace/rag on the button

[ QUOTE ]

SB would be getting 8:1. 5 outs gives him 8.2:1, so he would be calling incorrectly.

Re: Ace/rag on the button

[ QUOTE ]
If we call isn't that giving SB the odds to call with middle or bottom pair? However, most of the time he will be drawing to less that 5 outs(right?) and therefore making a mistake in...

Re: Ace/rag on the button

[ QUOTE ]
I don't really worry about hands like AK, AQ and KQ. Villain would have 3-bet preflop if holding one of those.

I agree to a certain extent, but I think this may be giving...

Re: Ace/rag on the button

Is WA/WB appropriate for this situation?

Either he has a better Ace (maybe 2pr), or he's got a King and thinks we were trying to steal and have nothing (or he likes his King, and is not thinking...

Re: QJs in SB

[ QUOTE ]
Doc, I think I've been confusing two entirely different poker concepts. The odds of me hitting one of my cards on the river is 2:1. This doesn't mean I'll WIN 1 out of 2 times.

Re: Ace/rag on the button

No reads on BB in that he hasn't done anything to catch my eye. So take that as straight forward, not unusually aggressive, I guess. But, I haven't seen enough hands to say that with any certainty. ...

Re: River full house

I think this is a fold preflop. There needs to be more callers to make suited Ks profitable.

Flop bet is ok, seeing as we have top pair and were checked to.

Turn bet is good too. That 2nd K...

Re: KQs too deep?

Reads?

I don't fold the turn getting 8:1 to draw at the flush.

I think it takes a read to fold the river. Could he be doing this with KT? Is he just playing you for a steal? Would he bet a...

Re: Anyone play this different?

I'd be tempted to bet this flop. You have top pair in a pot where no one has shown strength.

But, I don't mind this line considering there is really no way you can be sure you're ahead in this...

Re: Trying out 3/6 on Stars

I'm not saying giving a free card is good, I'm saying giving a free card when they were going to call, is not as bad as if they weren't.

(Not sure that makes sense, or I'm just rambling...
