TT facing all-in bet (early)

Hi here's an easy one for most of you but it's been bothering me for a while.

1. Should I RR all-in the below all-in with TT and pretty much go broke?
2. If not, should I push with JJ and pretty...

Re: 20/180 play for a multi-pot (against small-stack raise)

Yes, please also tell me upto what pocket-pairs you'd do this.

WOuld you do this if you had a 33 instead of 88?

Thanks

20/180 play for a multi-pot (against small-stack raise)

Hi,

Here is a typical situation encoutered in 20 MTT tourney play. No reads on "Player1" as this is early in the tourney. As I see it there is only one play for the Hero with pocket pair 88. To...

Re: PNL Study Group Day 4: Commitment

I am talking about Exception#5 on page 72 -- there are no examples in the text.

I just made up the example as I felt it suited the situation -- not referring the example to any example in the...

Re: PNL Study Group Day 4: Commitment

@ quiz:

I would say having +EV is the most important factor.

A. However at each street, you EV may go from + to -, and if it goes to a large -EV then you should reconsider.

B. If you hold...

Re: PNL Study Group Day 4: Commitment

Exception to commitment #5 (punishing your opponent):

There is no example to commitment exception #5 so I am a bit confused when you decide to bet to punish your *tight* opponent's tendency to...

Re: Professional No-Limit Hold \'em Study Group Day 1

Actually, I modify the question --- Can you explain if a 2:1 thumb-rule actually applies in ring games? In tourneys we have a 2:1 rule, where you can call a raise with marginal hands in specific...

Re: Professional No-Limit Hold \'em Study Group Day 1

QUICK RULE-of-THUMB question.

OK, I will be getting my book today -- I only eyeballed thru the chapters to be discussed and will ask a few qns on that later.

But speaking of thumb rules (such...

Re: TT in small blind with 25 people left in Tourny. what to do?

I agree. Dint notice this was end play with only 7 remaining. Making his range wider by 30 hands or so, makes the EV to be 10K+ so it's a push.

Thanks.

Re: Obv river raise? late in 100 on stars.

He doesn't have AA-QQ as he dint raise. AK-AJ, 77-JJ very possible as he had to call 3K into an 8K pot.

Consistent with a check on flop.

combination of bet on turn+river is weird, 4/5 of pot...

Re: QQ OOP on A high flop

OK, assuming this is 5$, the button's range of calling with Arag hands increases dramatically.

I'd put him on AQ-A9 (64 hands), 77-JJ (30 hands), AA-QQ (maybe he's trying to be tricky, so counting...

Re: TT in small blind with 25 people left in Tourny. what to do?

I am having trouble understanding why we'd push. The FE is really less here with 1 MP raiser.

I'd put the MP2 on AA-JJ, TT, AK-AQ.
I'd put the button on mid-pairs, maybe 77+ hoping to catch a...

Re: Donkey Test - Call 5BB All-In?

I vote call because:

1. The 10% rule and elimination premium
2. Also, here the villain puts in 10K in a ~5K pot, so 15K and you have to call 8K. So it's close to 2:1 and I use the 2:1 rule that...

Re: commiting to a hand at the start of a tourney

lol @ "life on the line"

What would raising with small pairs on BTN accomplish anyway? With small pairs, at most people raise or call raises and hope to flop a set.

He's got AA-KK, QQ, JJ,...

Re: 50-50 on FTP JJ facing reraise.

TWO POINTS:

1. If you think he does this with AQ also, def push.
How many players would do this play with an AQ with a 30-40X pot? I think 80% of players would

2. Does pushing post-flop force...

Re: 50-50 on FTP JJ facing reraise.

To clarify further, you have 4K+2K = 6K in the pot.

Suppose you push with 6K, into a 6K pot, he has 4K to call, so he's def calling. So you're winning 10K or losing 6K.

You win when he calls...

Re: 50-50 on FTP JJ facing reraise.

So the pot is 4k pf, and the SB bets 2k, you have 6k

My earlier tendency was to not let such a hand go. But over time, I have learned that I overvalue my TT/JJ at 20-30X.

This is the first time...

Re: ($55) Stars - AK vs tight UTG raise and reraise all-in

Yeah you're right. He could have raised a tight UTG with:

AK: 9, 22.5%
AQ: 12, 30%
QQ-TT: 18, 45%

So, winning prob =
22.5%*.5 + 30%*.7 + 45%*.5 = 56%
let's take 60%.

Re: ($55) Stars - AK vs tight UTG raise and reraise all-in

My policy is to push blindly with AK in such scenarios with <3 other players.

Let us see the possible cards a tight UTG raiser may have:
TT-QQ: 18 ways
KK: 3
AA: 3
AK: 9
AQ: 12
Total hands =...

Re: QQ Early in Stars $50K

If you're OOP why did you let him go on the flop?

I would bet 60% of pot on flop to see where I am at.
There's a good chance he folds. The prob of A or K occuring on flop is 1-C(42,3)/C(50,3) =...

Re: $10 Rebuy deep - pot odds call

Wow, been in this situation a few times. The odds are great so I definitely call.

I start the hand exactly like mariachi played with a 2.5BB raise. The Btn seems to be eager to finish this PF. So...

Re: Should I get invoved in this pot?

pot = 600+300+ante*7 = 1250
+ CO(1250)+Btn(4535) = 7000

Button does not want SB or BB in the pot. I put him on AJ-AK, 99-QQ

1. If CO calls, he has a pair or AK and the pot is 15K+

2. If he...

Re: AJ: facing AI from Short stack

Not sure if this is materially +EV with 3 big stacks behind who might just look you up with a wide range.

So My hands would shake but I'd fold and wait for the next.

M(pot)+2M(MP1)+5M(you) =...

Re: 4/180 AK at final table.....do i call?

Amazing how a very similar situation happened to me in the Million$ Grtd.a month ago.

It was 500/1000+ante or something similar. I had 48K (avg stack was lower), and raised to 5K on the Button....
