Re: QQ OOP on A high flop
I could be wrong but in a $5 tourney could the raise be a little smaller to achieve the same information? 850-900 maybe?
I think any non ace hand if folding to any raise, even a mini one. |

Re: QQ OOP on A high flop

Re: QQ OOP on A high flop
I believe you get the same information t600 cheaper by leading out t400 since what could he possible call or raise you with on that board?
Against a passive opponent I prefer to check and see what happens. Since you're pretty sure this villain is going to bet no matter what if you check I prefer to sacrifice the t400 and rep the A here. |

Re: QQ OOP on A high flop
OK, assuming this is 5$, the button's range of calling with Arag hands increases dramatically.
I'd put him on AQ-A9 (64 hands), 77-JJ (30 hands), AA-QQ (maybe he's trying to be tricky, so counting only 4 hands out of 13 hands) POT: 100+50 + 300+300 +300 = 1050 You bet 1000 and will check/fold on turn if he calls, right? But what is the % of times he calls. with AQ-A9 and AA-QQ and beats you every time. So (64+4)/(66+4+30) = 69% = 2/3 So EV for this is: 1000* 1/3 - 1050*2/3 = - 1000/3 = -330 I'd say the best thing is to raise more PF in 5$ tourneys to drive the Arag in LP speculator out. |

I'd say the best thing is to raise more PF in 5$ tourneys to drive the Arag in LP speculator out. [/ QUOTE ] It's my personal mission to let you know that this is incorrect. By raising more you drive out hands that you are ahead of. The only purpose this serves is to decrease the value of your QQ. You should want the dummies to be calling you with Ax because you are a long term winner against that hand. This is about value or EV and nothing else. I'd be assuming if I said that comments like this are based on short term losing rather than long term analysis. However, I don't see how you can give advise like this using any form of long term thinking. Look at it like this: Board: Dead: equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 66.435% 66.21% 00.23% 52150566 177432.00 { QcQd } Hand 1: 33.565% 33.34% 00.23% 26260554 177432.00 { A2s+ } Don't be afraid to play your QQ post flop. |

Re: QQ OOP on A high flop
this seems bad to me...if you are willing to put in 700 more, why not c/c villain on 2 streets and fold if he fires a 3rd barrel? This lets him bluff when hes gonna bluff.

Re: QQ OOP on A high flop
I prefer betting-out to check-raising. I'm trying to keep the pot small, and get to showdown.
The only thing check-raising accomplishes, is that it's more likely to prevent you from being bluffed out. Not worth it, IMO. |
