Re: Sixes
What's he hitting on that flop, save a FD? Raise, then go into calldown mode unless it comes down bad.

Re: 200NL: Turn plan?
Bet $40. What's this guy doing calling your PF raise with a lone five? (Pocket fives are horribly unlikely here.) For that matter, if he has pocket queens, kings, or aces, why isn't he raising? I...

Re: Little Green Book VS. NL Theory and Practice
NLHE-TAP and it's not even close. The Little Green Book is a beginner's guide, but there are some nuggets of wisdom that can come in handy. If you're willing to put the time and effort into...

Re: NL Tourney question
If we're talking about a cash game, it's his own fault -- he gets to play the rest of the hand with his cards exposed.
In a tournament, this compromises the rest of the table because everyone has...

Re: all-in in the dark
The action from the guy with 80 is binding, but it doesn't actually happen until his turn. Therefore the person facing the 20 who puts in 80 chips is technically raising.
When someone does...

Re: ATo two pair
Fold preflop -- AT is a trouble hand up front in a full ring game.
Checking this the whole way is playing scared, plain and simple. Bet every street. As played, I wouldn't mind you raising on...

Re: Is this call too loose preflop?
If the guy on your left is going to raise just to be a jerk, or will do it more than (say) 25% of the time, I'd go ahead and dump it to be safe. But if we're almost sure we can see a cheap flop with...

Re: .50/1 big slick gets a K on river?
I like calling here, because I don't think you're making any money on that raise -- Villain calls and beats you, raises and beats you, or folds. He may have Kx -- if he had a weaker pair, why didn't...

Re: \"Dry\" Flop
Consider that the hands the average player will play are any ace, two cards ten or higher, suited hands, and connected hands, flops that hereafter I'll call "juicy" would contain:
- any two cards...

n00bish calculus question
All right, I'm finding myself stuck on an equation for my course in analytical mechanics. It looks like:
d^2*u/dt^2 = k * u
I can't seem to remember how I get from here to an equation for...

Re: Turbo Sit-n-Go Format
Five minutes isn't that great with live play, because where you can play at least 60 hands per hour online, you might play 25-30 hands live. Probably ten- or twelve-minute levels would be wiser.

Beat: I just lost a friend of six years because she's sick of me saying that you can win long term at poker. It's gambling and therefore you MUST lose long-term, despite the fact that poker's not...

Re: Fold TPGK?
I like calldown mode here -- the pot has gotten too big to do anything else. You're not weak enough to fold, not strong enough to raise for value, and there's no way in hell anyone's folding here.

Re: ($10NL) I fold trips
This action suggests some kind of Kx. Trips better than yours aren't a completely remote possibility but I don't think it's likely enough for you to fold to the minraise. I call and then bet about...

Re: Turned a straight, raise AI?
No reason not to. You aren't behind much of anything here save precisely 64, and if the SB is willing to call a 4x raise with 64 offsuit preflop, then good luck to him.
