Default Turbo Sit-n-Go Format

Anyone ever tried this with a home game?

$10-$20 Buyin (No Rebuys or Add-ons)

10 People

T1000 in starting chips

5/10 Blinds to start (or should I start at 25/50?)

Blinds go up every 5 minutes.

Anyone ever do something like this? I'm trying to figure out a way to jam a few quick games in this Friday night.

Thanks! P

We have something similar, but it's a little deeper.

$10 buy-in freezout

Usually 7-10 people

T2000 Starting

Start @ 25/25 Blinds

Blind levels 7 min (We tried 5 min, but found it too rushed, what with shuffling and all)

We play for about 5-6 hours with breaks, and usually get in 3 games in and then run a final $10/rebuy with the same structure to end the night. Each Turbo take about 45m to little over an hour. Usually gets into pushfest territory around the 30 min mark.

We've messed with the blind levels so much I couldn't really tell you offhand what they are. I know we started with the standard STARS turbo SNG format, but modified it by taking out one or two levels to accelerate the play mid-game, and also modified to start at 25/25 then 25/50, etc...

Payout either % = 65/35 or 50/30/20 depending on the turnout.

I know it will get to this point, which is fine. Some of the guys I've been playing with lately have thrived on there own personal "luck fest tournaments", and I'm just trying to get more players to come for our monthly league. We will be having a bunch of watchers this game (probably around 3 to 4 people) that I'm hoping to they will play in the very next game after they watch.

Good format though and thanks for the reply.

Here is what I would do.

Figure out the time frame let's say 1.5-2 hours. Starting chips are t1000. Let's put the starting blinds at 10/20. There are 10 players. So that makes 10,000 chips in play.

Chip distribution:

10 - 10
50 - 11
100 - 4

Now we can set a blind structure:

10/20
20/40
50/100
100/200
Break-colour up 10s
200/400
400/800
800/1600

With 10,000 chips in play, this tourney will end at the 800/1600 level for sure and more likely at the 400/800 level. Therefore, with 15 minute levels and a 5 minute break, this will likely last under 2 hours easily and probably really only last 1.5 hours.

I would consider 15 minute intervals and aggressive blind structure as opposed to 5 minute intervals and normal blind structure.

Five minutes isn't that great with live play, because where you can play at least 60 hands per hour online, you might play 25-30 hands live. Probably ten- or twelve-minute levels would be wiser.

Definitely start at 5/10, because if you started with 20BB stacks (25/50) it would devolve into an all-in fest by the third level. With ten players the game should end around the 100-200 or 200-400 level -- that should be about 7-10 levels for about a 60-90 minute game.

you could just deal out the cards once, then roll dice to see who wins. that would go fast.
