Simplify things

To begin with, there are 2 envelopes. One contains X and the other contains 2X

Since you have a 50/50 chance of being handed either envelope, your initial expected value is 1/2...

It seems to me that each FPP is worth around 1.5 cents. So if you enter the the Sunday tourney for $215, it costs 13500. Similarly, it you purchase a $1000 Neiman gift certificate, it costs 62000...
