Another possibility is that this is something to do with the Sebok vs Tournament Circuit Forum spat.

This is not something that Barry would have done. The simple fact of impersonating a Rabbi and performing a service at a Jewish synagogue would be mocking the Jewish religion and would be totally out of character for someone like Barry.

This might be something that non-Jews would believe and get a kick out of, but just about any Jew who has ever attended Services would immediately know that such a stunt would never be attempted by anyone who possesses even a small amount of character much less a person with Barry's character.

Also, the Rabbi at a Synagogue is usually someone selected by the Board of the Synagogue. No one randomly enters a Synagogue and performs the Service. There could be a guest/visiting Rabbi invited to perform the Service, but anyone caught aiding a fake Rabbi would likely be kicked out of the Synagogue. This is not something taken lightly.

Conclusion: OP is not Barry and someone hacked his account.

In the largest reform synagogue in Southern Nevada, just outside Las Vegas, and no one recognized you?

edit: I see there's one in RPV as well, so mabye that was it, but still you are pretty famous.

Is Barry in Vegas right now or Rancho Palos Verdes, where he lives ?

How about if someone Jewish on these boards gives these dudes a call and ask them who the guest rabbi was on Saturday ? That'll put an end to this.

Were it true, Barry would have been on here to offer explanations.

It could only be true if it were for charity and the Rabbi or somebody was in on it.

If you were going to bet on it, which way would you wager?

Prop bet of over/under on how many posts it'll take to figure out what the actual prop bet is? How many posts before someone questions the veracity of the story? Anything like that fits the circumstances.
