Re: late in $150, A8 on SB

This looks close. First of all, the A8 being suited or not is quite relevant, as suitedness will add 4% to your equity against his likely calling range if you push. Those 4% *when* called are an...

Re: Stars $320: FT facing all-in w/ AJs

It sure feels tough to fold a semi-premium hand against the other short stack at the final table, but I still think this is a close fold. General tournament theory, and particularly as a short (yet...

Re: Can you NL players embarrass the MTT players? (X-post)

Another SMALL upside to just playing the flop "cheaply" is seeing is another ace or king comes off on the turn, which would change things drastically.

Re: Can you NL players embarrass the MTT players? (X-post)

I don't think you can be too sure. He's probably the guy more likely to 3-bet AA/KK and just call AK on the flop, others would be vice versa. And you are stuck out of position and can never be too...

Re: Can you NL players embarrass the MTT players? (X-post)

The flop plan is easily the most interesting part of this hand.

Settle this No-Limit dispute

Live-game, blinds $30 and $30. UTG and "Z" in this hand are both fairly thinking, yet not expert players and a little bit on the loose/gambling side.

UTG limps, another player limps, "Z" limps, I...

Re: It Doesn\'t Always Depend

I am sorry if this has been touched onto already, but even the preflop thinking is flawed:

"Two players fold. The next two limp. You are next with pocket sevens. First question is what’s your...

Re: 5/10NL Party - Tough decision on flop...or is it ???

It boils down to purely a math/range problem on the last call. You are getting close to 1.5-to-1 on the last call (if villain had $1100 prior to the pot), so it's very very close (need 40%+ equity to...

Re: $109 88 w/ 14 left: Preflop

I am not pushing here for nearly 17bb. In such case, I would rather open-raise and call a push, giving 77-22 a chance to get into a real crappy spot.

I am raising this to 4800 or even in this...

Re: One of the \"best players on the internet\" makes this play?

When he hits a "clean" king, with an overcard kicker to the other cards that protects him from being dead to anything apart from a set, he is commited here, simple as that.

Actually, I would say...

Re: Button pushing range vs decent big blind

Assuming SB calls 14% of his hands and big blind 28%, you are getting called here 38% of the time, meaning you take down 1200 chips 62% of the time (62% of the time, you EV is +1200 chips).

The...

Re: Nightly 150 88 vs. an early position push

AQs+, 99+ is slightly too tight. More like AQo+ (with AJs and KQs as well) and 88+, I guess, but any worse than that is just trying to take the worst of it with eight random hands behind you.

Re: Nightly 150 88 vs. an early position push

This is probably a bit tightish 9-handed with 9bbs and 0.5bb in antes, but not far from correct.

Throw in AQo and take away the blinds, and it should be about correct.

Giving hero a pretty...

My thoughts is...

$150+12 Stars, tough spot

Hi all,

PokerStars, $150+12nl, 120 paid, 190ish left, avg about 9,000. Blinds are at 200/400 with a 20 running ante, 9-handed.

I am sat in the big blind and have 5,400 after posting the big...

Re: outdoing tommy, andy fox, and maybe even TxRedMan!

The only additional aspect of the math calculation, is when mike l flops a drawing hand where he has a significant overlay on continuing.

This can be calculated through;

1. how often and how...

Re: outdoing tommy, andy fox, and maybe even TxRedMan!

Quick calculation. I assume Asian guy is in small blind, so will be 13 bets in the pot when the flop comes if you put in another 2, you are getting 5.5-to-1. You will flop a set one in 8.5, that will...

Yes, to me I would say it has been. Actually, the way you state your question, the answer would always be yes. The claim can only be disputed if you believe that you will always make the...

Re: AQo with a Q exposed

It's not about playing JJ for a set. It's about the insane added value the sets add to JJ when playing the hand 500 times.

If both kings were taken out of the deck every time you got dealt K-K,...

Re: 200-400 Hand.

I agree upon closer reflection that my estimated opening range *for the typical player in this game* should be looser than this.

To include hands I would open myself from this position, QTs+, JTs,...

Re: 200-400 Hand.

Scott,

A two-outer on the flop is about 9% of hitting either the turn or river, so the backdoor draws are nowhere near a 3 1/2 outer, despite of course the obvious difference that a two-outer will...
