$150+12 Stars, tough spot
Hi all,
PokerStars, $150+12nl, 120 paid, 190ish left, avg about 9,000. Blinds are at 200/400 with a 20 running ante, 9-handed. I am sat in the big blind and have 5,400 after posting the big blind. Two folds, then UTG+2 raises to the standard total of 1,200. Folded to me, very little reads, fairly new table. I choose to call. Flop comes J-T-7 rainbow. I check, opponent bets 800, I go-allin for 3600 more. Thoughts? lars |

Well, I'll shoot anyway. AK,AQ,JJ+, I would have pushed pf. Playing TT this way is fine. If I call pf with 99/88, I checkfold. I wouldn't be in with 77, but check raising it is fine. If you somehow made it in with KQ, checkraising all in is fine. I fold AJ pf, however I play the flop the same.

I wouldn't have slowplayed if you had a strong hand. If it was mediocre or worse, I would have pushed.

Re: $150+12 Stars, tough spot
Sorry guys! I held 99.
I am checking in because I am somewhat displeased with my recent MTT results and possibly performances and wanted a check-up on for instance this hand. My thoughts is that I beat the 32 combinations of A-K and A-Q on the flop as well as having 6 outs against the 18 overpair combinations. However, I didn't like the 800 bet as it certainly didn't indicate the drawing overcards I was hopking for and I really wonder if my best play on this flop is just to push it right there (because the way I see, AK/AQ would have to fold, and even if they call, I am fine with that as a 60-40 favourite and when the overpairs are out, I have about 25% equity with my 6-outer. Best wishes Lars |

[/ QUOTE ] With 99 it's either a push or a fold pre-flop, you'll only have 4.200 to play with to win a pot of ~3200. Not knowing the size of the stack opponent has I would guess he will call you down after a flop unless it's really intimidating to him. I would probably have shoved pre-flop. |

I'd push PF, no reason to get cute here.

Push PF. Since you just called, push flop. C/r gives him odds to call with AQ,AK, etc.

Re: $150+12 Stars, tough spot
Thanks guys, yeah I thought so after the hand as well after he had insta-called me with K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] that my hand is probably good enough to push preflop with the stacks and the way to go.
The way I played it, I still feel as though going in on the flop is kind of close. lars |
