Re: Stud hi - thoughts on playing 3 2 a straight.
Hi Tinkerman!
Let the pros say what they like about Roy West's book. It's good solid advice that the majority of players at lower limits are not heeding. I'll lend you my copy if you ever venture...

Re: Basic bring-in question
It really depends on the game, limits and situation.
I find myself doing this much more in the latter stages of tournaments/SNGs than in ring games; in low limit loose/high-ante games it is also...

Trapping
Trapping seems to be a big part of the $2/$4 game on PR. I haven't really used this much myself, until recently, though I guess it works out okay. At $1/$2 it just seems that making the draws pay is...

Re: 3rd street razz strategy question
Re-raise everytime. But then I'll often re-raise with a 7 in the hole, too. Or even with a 7 up. As someone else says, you then have odds to call after bricking on 4th.
Don't let anyone else in...

Re: 7-Card Stud Newbie Hand Question(s)/Analysis
I agree with dboy23 that if you want to learn stud, Party is a really bad place to start. The ante is way too high and the players too bad. You can take advantage of them but you need to know what...

Re: 3 handed 75/150 stud hi.. interesting hand.
Am I the only one that actually likes the way the villian played it? I guess he was planning to check-raise 6th, but the failure to do that paid off on the river. With rolled aces he got more than a...

Re: 1/2 Razz hand
Notwithstanding the other responses, I would call but be tempted to raise. You could well be ahead, but if not you've got the best draw. He didn't re-raise you on 3rd so he's likely to have a 7 or 8...

Re: Gutshots on 4th
I was really referring to the times when you start with a 3-str8 and pick up a gutshot, so yes, I meant "good" gutshots.
But I confess that I often limp with QJ9, especially if it's 2-suited. In...

Gutshots on 4th
I have taken to peeling off a card on 4th when I make a gutshot (and the board is non-threatening). I'm talking about 1/2 where the pot is usually multi-way and not raised on 3rd.
Bad idea?

Re: Simple 4th street question
I don't know for certain but I imagine that it is in suit order: Spades > Hearts > Diamonds > Clubs. So Qh is higher than Qd.
As a long time bridge player, I often wondered why the suits were...

Thanks.
(I'm surprised you don't think it's even worth a limp on 3rd. We were playing 5 handed and they were wired. )

Re: Tricky hand
Thanks for the response. The aggression, I guess, comes from playing lower limits and trying to get value from all the chasers. But if he is on a 4-flush, then surely I need to bet on 5th? His raise...

Of course I didn't check the river. My only thought was, what hand could he have that would call a bet on the river that he wouldn't bet out with? The only one I can think of is an unimproved pair of...

Yep, I can relate to this. I seldom find an opportunity to check-raise.
Been wondering whether I am missing bets on the river because of this as I usually value bet any reasonable hand. But in...
