Re: Say goodbye to the dream

I'm a bit confused by the guys who assume that Jason will make more on Wall Street than as a poker player. I myself work in NY (not on Wall Street, but for ~100K + stock), two years out of college. I...

Re: Other Countries to Live/Play

Gambling can be considered income if you file as a professional. You can then also deduct expenses, but I suppose it increases your chances of an audit, too.

Re: 530 Floating a Mid Pair

If your opponents routinely fold getting 3:1, you can find better spots.

Most players don't fold much getting 3:1 with a card to come.

Re: Largest Loss

$18K in live 200/400. Got down to HU with a ton. Guy had 5 $100 chips and turned it into $60K a few hours later. Sick.

Re: do you have ambitions?

Having a wife/kids (or other responsibility) seems to make a big difference, rather than age per se. I am 22 but have been working full time for last 1.5 years. I def want to make money more than...

Re: River decision vs Antonio Esfandiari

Seems like a lot of ppl are saying he is very aggro and will bluff given the opportunity. If we've decided to pay off his flush/nutz/etc, then might as well max out against his bluffs.

So...

first *real* post (long)

My first real post in this forum. My friend had asked me about a 40/80 hand where he could not lay down bottom set against unimaginitive players betting strongly. He wanted to know how he could...

Re: basketball brag and beat

Even a team that is 2-1 will lose 33% of the time. Maybe that's just what happened here.

Re: RESULTS

Perhaps biased cause though I haven't played this game but I know the players.

Hand 1 I agree you need to raise more if you do raise, but I don't think anyone in that game folds KK given that...

KJs against a blind allin, players left to act

5/10 NL home game 8-handed.

Stuck MP announces before the hand that he is playing blind. UTG ($8k) limps and says "you better look cause I'm going to call you." Folded to MP who goes allin blind...

Re: Borgata

Is there still a 1/2 Omaha HiLo game on Thursday/Friday? There is usually a 150/3 game on the weekend, often full.

Re: chess or poker

I used to be an expert in chess some years ago and I think poker is much different, leading many decent chess players to become much worse poker players than they can be.

In chess, you challenge...

Re: Improving one\'s LAG game.....

The best value in learning how to play LAG is to use that knowledge against other LAGs when you play TAG in your regular game.

It is like chess. You learn an opening with the black pieces to play...

Re: 25-50 99

The shortstack has no reason to put hero on a strong hand (he called a small raise in BB). Nor does he have reason to think hero is bluffing. Therefore, he probably puts hero on a medium-strength...

Re: Esoteric timepot question

Why? In AC people do it all the time. I did get that (your) reaction when I've out to Vegas.

The time pot is meant to speed up the game (so the dealer doesn't have to make change for $7 or $9). If...

Re: esfandiari and hachem 10-25 at rio

$100 per head is way too small for the (72) bounty in such a big game. That and people usually raise PF with the bounty. Hard to put Hachem on 72 if he didn't raise or reraise. What was his position?
