Re: bet in the dark is binding?
You're playing roulette with a ruling on something like this. In a world with no published rule books, something borderline like this is going to be different floor person to floor person in the...

Re: Quick Vegas Trip Report 10/13
Thanks for the report.
It is sad to heard that the Mirage room was so bad. I really enjoy playing there, and I had the same experience when I was there last year. Could any locals comment on...

Re: NM Poker Trip, low poker content
Thanks.
If I knew the games were that good year round, I might change my next Vegas trip to Sandia. I don't remember the last time I had a $3 rake.

NM Poker Trip, low poker content
Our family took a quick trip through New Mexico last week to see the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque and the Cowboy Symposium in Ruidoso. Here are my impressions of the events, and a quick look at the...

I spent 5 days in Vegas two weeks before Christmas, and I very different experiece at the Mirage. I've stayed there about once a year for the last 4 or 5 years, so maybe I'm used to some of the...

Re: Are There Non Linear SNG Calling Situations?
If you are heads-up in a SNG, this is the case. Let's say that your hand wins 35% against his random hand. Your hand is +EV (your calling EV is higher than your folding EV) to call when you are...

Re: Big Loss in One Session
I play anywhere from 4-8 with a 1/2 kill to 10-20 in home games. Up in the mountains they have a wild 2-5 spread limit game, which I've always found quite beatable despite claims of this being...

Re: Big Loss in One Session
I think your experience is a good example of the fallacy of "you can't beat low limit games". You're a consistent winner at 4-8, but it is taking a bit of time to find your way in 8-16 and 10-20. ...

Re: Big Loss in One Session
Was this live or on-line? What were the game conditions like? Where do you rate yourself among the other players, 5th best out of 9?
Over a 9 hour session, a loss like this is possible...

Re: 1-for-4?
My only complaint on the flop is the guy behind you who should have you beat. If he's good, he knows no-one is folding and expects there might be a raise from the straddler PF. He hasn't acted, and...

Re: 1-for-4?
Nate,
Your problem on both the flop and the turn is that you're multi-way with a heads up hand. You don't have good reads because the raising has been devalued.
I'll go along with others, flop...

Kurt,
This is an amazing, well thought post. I have some friends I'm going to point to this one. This is by far the best post I've read all night.

Re: Thinking of Dropping Out - My Plan
Sven,
Can you drop out without destroying your GPA? This might seem like a small concern, but you can really make it hard to change you mind in the future if you dig a deep hole grade-wise.
