Re: Almost in a bar fight and called a Racist!

Possibly. As I read the story though she was very patient with the man. She put up with his abusive behavior for quite some time, then repeatedly gave him the option to leave before she called the...

Re: Buying a House w/ No Job

By the way, if you were making that sort of money and using Neteller, you definitely want to get those taxes taken care of sooner rather than later. I have seen several people speculate online that...

He just didn't get that it was a joke at the time. Sometimes without seeing someone grinning or winking at you, you can't tell that something in print is intended to be funny.

Re: Almost in a bar fight and called a Racist!

You missed the fact that the guy had napkins within reach. ... If it wasn't over napkins, he'd have found something else.

By the way Blarg, I liked what you said several posts back about...

Re: got a job interview...

As a former corporate recruiter I can tell you that most recruiters wouldn't/don't do that. They have too much on their plate to waste their time interviewing someone if they know the position will...

Re: Almost in a bar fight and called a Racist!

I don't think he got arrested over napkins. It's like all of those COPS episodes where they show up, and the drunk guy is so wound up that he ends up pushing their buttons too. Maybe he resists...

Re: Almost in a bar fight and called a Racist!

I think 911 was completely approporiate, especially given that he's in a relatively small town in Montana. I lived in Missoula a LONG time ago. There are more bison and big horn sheep in the state...

Re: Buying a House w/ No Job

If you're not reporting your income, you've got all sorts of potential problems. Get with the IRS, tell them you need to pay back taxes for last year. If you're making $180k annually, you should be...

Re: My birthday present to myself

Thanks to all who have recommended Harrington's books, in this thread and others. I am about halfway through the 2nd book. My game has actually gotten worse, though. I think I'm overthinking in...

Re: got a job interview...

I'm a recruiter. I put food on the table by helping to hire people for other companies. If it were me, I'd prefer that you didn't waste my time. However, I have also had lots of conversations with...

Re: My Dad: He is Pissing Me off

I'll also say that I'm a dad and sometimes come home from work and veg in front of the computer without giving my kids much face time. Sometimes I'm pretty stressed and tired from a day at work, and...

Re: My Dad: He is Pissing Me off

John, just read the 1st post. Haven't read others' comments.

First, you certainly have a right to expect more of your dad. Sounds like he's a bit of a jerk in that respect. Have you ever asked...

Re: Why The Dude Converted

What I'm talking about is a behavior that is common among people in general, regardless of one's theology. (Purchase Justification Reflex is one term I've heard. There's another, but I can't think...

Re: The hypocrisy of Job Interviews

A lot of companies are using a method called Behavioral Based Interviewing. Using that method, they ask you to describe situations in which you have encountered certain types of circumstances, and...

Re: My birthday present to myself

Thanks for the invite. I'm not really much interested in Casino play. Home games are much more my style. Poker for me is mostly about having an opportunity to meet people. I read up on the game...

Re: Why The Dude Converted

Well, the one he quoted indicated that 40% believe that God exists, 45% believe there is no god, and 15% say that they aren't sure ... Essentially the same numbers as the survey when it was done 80...

I assume it's best just to take them in order, or did you find one more helpful than the other?

Re: Why The Dude Converted

Not that this proves anything really. You can find plenty of Atheists who will point to the survey and say that it proves that if you're smart you're more likely not to believe in God. On the other...

Re: Why The Dude Converted

If we're both referring to the Nature survey, which it sounds like we are, then the numbers have stayed pretty constant in the 80 years between the original survey and the one in 97. I found this...

Thanks. I think I missed your original post, or just missed the reference. May be the same survey we're talking about.

"60% responded, a figure considered high for any surveys. Of those, 40%...

Re: Why The Dude Converted

Subfallen, The numbers I have always heard batted around were:

40% - Theists
40% - Athiests
20% - Agnostics

I'm curious where you got the 90% athiest figure?

My birthday present to myself

I'm thinking of buying a book or two for my upcoming birthday.

I've been playing a little over a year. Am roughly a break even SnG player, playing low entry fee games. Haven't played much live,...

Re: Why The Dude Converted

So those of us who have had those conversations and made those examinations but come up with the conclusion that God does exist or that the Bible *is* inspired are sadly delusional, eh?
