If you can't check-fold (I don't think you can vs. an unknown), then your options are to bet or check-call. I think most players will not bluff the river when an ace comes and they'd most likely want...

So the flop is QQ7 lets say. The bettor is most likely to have a QAxx, Q7xx, 77xx, and just a Qxxx. There are clearly wayyyy more combos of Qxxx than the other hands that beat or split...
