I don't this strategy is much of a secret. I believe Barry Greenstein discusses this strategy in his book no? To answer the OP's question, yes this strategy can be used to make any player a winning...

Sounds like your playing a LAG style so that might attribute to some loose calls by your opponents. Perhaps you might try mixing up your play a little. Limp in with some of your hands instead. ...

I agree, there's no book that can teach how to play in all situations. But as I said, it's a base (inferior as it may be) from which new players can learn from and have limited success.

Well first of all, poker is a situational game. Each hand may seem to be the same on the surface, can be totally different based on opponents, position, chip stacks and many other factors.

Generally when you move up the competition should get better so likely that might be part of the problem. What works at a lower level may not work at the next level so you have to learn to adjust. ...
