Re: Big O (5 Card Omaha 8)
I've played Omaha where you are dealt five hole cards instead of 4. The rest of the rules are the same (i.e. use 2 from your hand and 3 from the board). They play this pot limit at The Aviation Club...

Re: Roll the Bones: The History of Gambling
I just finished this book.
It is very readable but I have a problem with it. When I spot a half dozen mistakes I have to question the accuracy of everything the author says.
A couple from...

Re: Help with splitting odd chip in O/8
Divide the pot in half. Any extra chip goes in the high half.
Pay the high player(s). If splitting the high half results in an extra chip the player with the worst (earlier) position gets the...

Re: high hands: how do you play them?
A key concept to winning at O/8 is to play for scoops. When it appears likely that you are playing for only half the pot you should often fold. This is especially true when you are only drawing to...

Re: 2/4 LO8 BB flop straight
The problem is that your turn bet may get raised and that probably isn’t good for you. You do not have the nuts or a draw to it and the CO may be free rolling you. He may have just made the same...

Re: 2/4 LO8 BB flop straight
Three players see the turn. The SB checks and it is on you.
Who was the 5/images/graemlins/diamond.gif a good card for and who was it a bad card for?
The turn card is great for the low hands....

Re: .5/1 LO8 why did you bet the jack?
Without knowing the player or his cards it would just be a wild guess as to his reason or reasons. There are too many possibilities. The SB may know why he bet, or he may not.

Re: LO8 Iso raise +lost on the turn.
In general I would not raise PF in this situation.
You have a nut diamond flush draw. I do not want to chase out players who may have weaker diamond draws.
You have three Broadway cards. If...

Re: When should I raise the white flag?
Try tightening up preflop. My guess is you also need to tighten up on the flop. It is easy to find something to like on most flops. These hands are probably not as good as they initially seem due to...

Re: A weird hand (15/30 LO8)
I think you are getting good enough pot odds (4.5 to 1) to call.
I don't think raising will be profitable. You will be called or reraised by a better hand more often than you will be paid off...

Re: 15-30 LO8 push/pull
When I have a draw to the nut flush or the nut low, I generally do not want to push people out of the pot. I want the loose players in, calling with their non-nut draws.
Another thing to think...

Re: L08 - got jammed w/the nuts
A fold should be considered on the flop. You have the nut straight. In Omaha/8 small and medium straights (with nothing else) are often money losers. You are playing only for half the pot as you have...

Re: Matusow\'s O8 article
A problem with Mike's analysis is that he doesn't worry about flushes and makes no mention of suits as Buzz points out.
Those players with good hands containing an Ace are likely to be suited. I...

Re: Review this hand
Unless emmy_liz is a rock who would only raise preflop with Aces I would bet / 3-bet the river.
I would have bet the turn also.

Re: This happens alot, what do I do differently?
There are two reasons to raise preflop - to build a bigger pot or to limit the field. With this strong of a hand you do not want to limit the field. Whether a raise will result in a larger pot by the...

Re: another 10/20 LO8 hand
I would bet the flop.
When the flop is two high cards and one low card and the flop fits my hand, I usually bet. It is very important not to give players with only a back door low a free card. You...

Re: LO/8 JJTT in Micro-Limit Game
The problem with JJTT is that you rarely make the nuts and scoop the pot. Remember that the object of the game is to scoop the pot.
If you flop a set of Jacks or Tens, there will either be over...
