Looks pretty standard. Unless you have some really good
reads on MP2 and button, it is hard to play it any different.

Oh just raise pf, bet &amp; cap to the river if given the opportunity, and take what the dealer pushes your way.

Why would you not want to raise with this pre?

There are two reasons to raise preflop - to build a bigger pot or to limit the field. With this strong of a hand you do not want to limit the field. Whether a raise will result in a larger pot by the end of the hand (as opposed to waiting until a later street) is dependent on the game. If your opponents unhesitatingly call all raises, then I would go ahead and raise preflop. If not, I would just limp.

[/ QUOTE ]Flavius – I would not generally raise with this hand from UTG+1 position before the flop because I don’t think that is the optimal way to play this hand from early position.

This hand is a pulling hand as opposed to a pushing hand. When it wins it will often be as the nuts. When I have the nuts, I want as many customers as possible. In order to get customers for a hand like this one, I play in such a way as to make it as easy as possible for my opponents to see the flop. I want opponents to see the flop and then continue with non-nut lows and non-nut diamond flushes. And I don’t want my opponents who might see the flop despite the pre-flop raise backing away on later betting rounds because of the pre-flop raise.

I'll often call a pre-flop raise and then back away on later betting rounds because of the pre-flop raise. Depends on the circumstances, who raised, who continued, etc. What to do for me is highly opponent specific.

With hands like this one, and honestly with most hands, I don’t do as well by raising before the flop as by not raising before the flop. But if you find raising before the flop works best for you, then go ahead and raise. Doesn't work best for me, but maybe it would for you. Do whatever works best for you against your particular opponents.

And I think it’s important, in general, to mix up your play.
