I don't understand the fuss about Cirque. It just seems weird to me. Someone else paid for me to get in, I would have been pissed if I had paid 75 bucks to see that. I'd rather see 3 small Improv-type shows for that money.

As I've gotten more experienced at playing, I've gotten a better idea of what I want in a game and table. If I don't see it where I am, there are plenty of other casinos to look. Taking cabs everywhere adds 10 to 15 bucks to every trip. For poker-room hopping trips, a rental car is the quickest, most convenient, and cheapest way I've found to go. As for price, maybe you can get a deal through work, but most HR-travel agent types aren't going to shop rates. Just call the major rental company numbers, you may be surprised. On my last two trips, I got a car for a little over $12 a day plus taxes.

It does great for places that have a monorail station, otherwise the long walks suck in the summer. Luckily for you, there's a station at Harrah's. If you want to go to the Sahara for their budget tournament or MGM for their packed tables, the monorail is a good way to go and cheaper than a cab.

I was there for a first time trip a few weeks ago and ate at Delmonico at Venetian, Michael Mina at Bellagio, and Nobu at Hard Rock. Nobu was my favourite: fantastic food and excellent service. I highly recommend going for the chef's tasting menu (omakase). The dishes flowed beautifully into each other, with a great variety of flavours. Delmonico was great, with top notch service as well. The only problem there was that I can only enjoy the first 12 oz of a steak, then I just keep eating out of stubbornness. Michael Mina was uneven. I had a seasonal tasting menu there as well, and had some very good fish as well as some rather mediocre fish -- not bad, mind you, just a little disappointing for the price. My waiter was also rather awkward and seemed mildly retarded.

The consensus is correct: skip the Rainforest Cafe, even the coffee shop at Binions is better.

My ex-wife and I used to go to LV for vacations all the time and since it seem's like romance not gambling is your main point of this trip here is my married guy advice. RENT A CAR! For the whole trip.
You want wifey to be in the mood? Then waiting in long lines for shuttles and cabs will not help. Women are very impatient about this in LV. The bad choice of walking will not help either, those casinos are not as close as they appear. With the car you have freedom and flexibilty ( very important in LV) which will go a long way to you both relaxing and enjoying your 2nd honeymoon.

Yes, rent a car. The the advent and rapid spread of the automotible in the 20th century has coincided with the greatest leap in progress mankind has ever acheived. Freedom of mobility, economic democracy, and high standards of livings are just some of the reasons why. All this new urbanism [censored] pisses me off. The monorail in vegas is a good example of why this hippie bs is a bankrupt philosophy -- it's all but useless. The automobile is here to stay people, and that is a good thing. Hybrid technologies are improving so oil prices/availability will be less of an issue in the future. For a more succinct argument on the subject see Cox's "War on the Dream"

Oh you're going to be at Harrah's. Forget the rainforest cafe (still) and spend that time at Dueling Pianos at Harrah's by the Pit entrance from the strip. It is the best free show in LV.

Here's another vote for renting a car.

I'll be in Vegas 18-26 June and am renting a mid-size for $12 a day from National Car Rental. Instead of booking through your company, try this: go to Hotwire and see what prices they quote you for your dates. Then go to Priceline and bid $2-4 less per day than the lowest Hotwire price. This has worked well for me every time I have done it, and always beats any other deal I could find (even beats "stacking" discount coupons directly with the rental companies).

I've eaten there like 4 times (three times on vacation and once since i've moved here) and have always gotten an excellent meal.

maybe i'm just so used to taco bell and outback that Rainforest is like a heaven sent dining experience haha.
