I raise this PF, makes it much easier to play the hand with the lead. As you played it, I raise the flop to around 6-700 to see where I am. If he pushes, I probably call, but you are probably beat. Once that scary turn comes as you played it, I would probably check it down. On the river, you are beat. Not sure if it is a straight or a flush or both (most likely flush) but it is hard to put him on any hand you can beat. IMO that is the best reason to raise it PF is so you can get rid of J8 and 2 crappy spades from his range in spots just like this.
