I'm curious what "imaginative play" looks like in pool.

Pretty much every thing in HOH made me go wow, I'll confess that I was a Donk until I read this book. Everything in that book is gold. I have read every highly regarded poker book that I know of, but none of them opened my eyes the way HOH did, I can't wait for HOH3.

Re: \"worth the price of....\"
Literally the whole SSHE book hit me that way, but especially "Two Overpair Hands" and "Protecting Your Hand." The 2+2 guys had written about these concepts before, but never more clearly and powerfully.
Also, a few of the chapters from "The Play of Hands 2" by Roy Cooke really opened my eyes up to high-level thinking at the table. Which ones I couldn't pinpoint just now as I don't have the book in front of me. Check that book out if you haven't already. |

Re: \"worth the price of....\"
Harrington on Hold 'Em I ... Dan reveals that a top pro player cannot "see into someone's soul" but merely is observant, has a good memory and the ability to put together patterns of betting and behavior to put someone on a hand.
So now when I'm watching High Stakes Poker and I see Ted Forest pick out the exact cards of another player I run it back to see if I could pick up on the things that he did. Harrington did a lot to take the hocus-pocus out of the amazing decisions that top pros make. Also he is a genuinely nice guy taking a few minutes to chat during a tournament break and sign my copy of his book. |
