With your current bankroll, I don't know if it will matter much. You're better off focusing on your game (whichever you want to play) and building your bankroll so you can play higher. I've been playing NL100 FR, and have no problems accumulating enough VPPs to make Silver, even with very few hours per month. When I can actually get the hours in, I've made Gold.
For what it's worth, I never even made Silver when I used to play SNGs for similar hours, with a similar bankroll. I haven't done the math, but bankroll considerations might be in your favor with FRNL vs SNGs. With SNG's, you want to have 100 BuyIns to keep your Risk of Ruin down. Conventional wisdom says 20 BuyIns for FRNL, so you might already be over your head at 10NL. Of course, with SNGs it's more predictable exactly how many FPPs you get with each tourney. |

As said, at 0.05/0.10 you should focus on improving your game and bankroll to move up rather than what you can buy with the FPPs. Jumping up in stakes without the proper bankroll and experience will only break you.
It won't be until you get to .50/1NL (100NL) or 1/2 limit when you really start gathering FPPs at a nice rate. SNGs aren't very good for VPPs unless you're at higher stakes and playing turbos. I have no problem hitting Gold now and hit Platinum once, usually playing .50/1 limit and FR NL, and 1/2 limit, on minimal hours as I have a career and family. |

When I was clearing a bonus 4-tabling 1/2 limit, I was rolling in FPPs.

You have to understand that FPP works like rakeback. You're not going to earn more value in FPP than you contribute in rake. The only way to earn FPP at a faster rake is to play more hands at higher limits and contribute more to rake.

Stars doesnt do partial points, so if you play ALOT of hands at the micros you will more then your rake ![]() to say that he isnt getting points because he isnt contributing enough to rake is technically correct |

For SNGs & MTTs, Stars actually rounds up half points. So if you play a $6.50 SNG, you get 3 FPPs. If you play a $3.30 tourney, you get 2 FPPs.

At 1/2 and lower the rake has to be $0.40 to earn an FPP. You don't just get a point just because the hand is raked. So at some of the lower stakes you will be playing a lot of hands that are raked $0.05 up to $0.35 that you earn nothing for. And the lower you go the less your chances are of having a pot make it to $8 to earn that $0.40 rake. So you will end playing a lot of hands that get raked $0.05 or $0.10 perhaps and maybe once in a blue-moon get a hand big enough to actually earn a point. Obviously at .05/.10 NL you aren't going to earn many points at all because there aren't going to be many pots that make it to the magical $8 mark. |

ok I'm really sorry, I made a type, I play .05/.1, which is obviously a lot different than .5/1. Anyways, like somebody said, the pot has to be $8 for the rake to be .4 for me to get a FPP and that just takes forever. Having said that, should I play tournaments instead then since isn't it for every $1 you pay in tournament fees you get a FPP?
