I don't want to hijack this topic, but I was wondering if you prefer buying for 100BB or 200BB stacks?
Personnally I always buy in for 100BB, and when I double up I usually leave the table if other players have 200BB stacks.
I only have a 24 buyin bankroll so playing with 200BB would mean I'm playing for 1/12th of my BR which I'm not comfortable doing yet.

Work Rate / Standard Deviation, meaning he thinks that playing 50BB gives you the highest WR relative to your risk of ruin.

from what i understand, sbrugby is very numbers oriented and he always keeps his stack up to the buyin max. so i wonder if its the right thing to do mathematically.

Rolf's book is prob better than this forum for explaining a short stack strategy/reasons behind it.

Full Buy in: you can stack your opponent at any time, and get the most value from your made hands and bluffs deep into the hand - trying to exploit the postflop mistakes of your opponents; more profitable if you're good, more costly if you're bad (ie. you suck)

Short Buy in: you only play preflop ranges and try to exploit overaggressive people putting in money w/ poor preflop holdings - trying to exploit preflop mistakes; less profitable if you're good, less costly if you're bad

its also worth pointing out that shortstack play isnt nearly as effective at 6 seater tables, and if you get a noobie shortie all in v a couple of regular TAGs more often than not the regs check it down, so the shortie dosent get the protection he might if its 3-4 way at a full table

If I am going to sit and just post in FR I will buy in for the default min intending to top off once the button gets to me. If I'm going to end up posting in the cutoff I just top off.
Pretty much depends if I'm too antsy to wait the extra couple hands or so.
