The problem with the cr is many things.

a) gives the fd a free river card.

b) makes the pot large and you dont want to play for stacks.

c) it may get another bet out some worse hands, but alot of them are just checking behind.

d) it turns your hand face up.

[/ QUOTE ]

You don't want to play for stacks? Why not here?

Also what do you mean in d).... You think it gives hand away?

[/ QUOTE ]

stop playing your hand and play his hand. Put yourself in his shoes, what hand will he want to get it all in with that you beat?

Honestly, I really hate your c/r on the turn. It looks like a 7.

[/ QUOTE ]

So the check looks like I definitely have the 7?

[/ QUOTE ]

LOL - no the check looks like nothing. It's the raise after the check that looks like a 7.

The check get's him to bet, but he shouldnt really call your raise without a 7. He certainly shouldnt call your river bet w/o a 7 I dont think.

Your line just looks like what it is. In the long run, leading out at the turn disguises your hand a little but more I think.

No, but the raise looks like you could beat AA. And you do. Think about what hands will pay you off, and what hands you have to be afraid of. The checkraise will likely get an overpair to fold, and might fold out flush draws too. And your kicker is only a ten, decent, but not invincible. If villain answers your checkraise with an all-in shove, do you call?

This particular villain played his hand terribly, btw.

Thanks again.

Those were really helpful.

I see what you are all saying.

That if i am ahead - which i expect to be - i need to bet in a way which maxmises worse hands paying off.

Regarding an all in......no point risking all my chips when the only likely callers will be hands ahead of me.

So in which case bet an amount that MORE of the worse hands will call.

Am i on the right track there?

I definitely think you need to get it in here if villain lets you. You beat every reasonable 7 except A7 and people will get it in with worse hands than that fairly often as well. I agree with just betting again on the turn though, for reasons already mentioned.

As played, I agree with whoever said that the river bet was too small. After he calls your turn c/r I think you can get more value than that from your hand. He just isn't all that likely to fold after calling the turn unless he just has a missed draw, in which case he obviously won't be calling a smaller bet anyway. I'd bet something like $10-$12 there.

I don't mind the play at all, sometimes i'll lead sometimes i wont for deception purposes, but it would depend a lot on villain stats

I wouldn't overestimate a 50NL opponent. So many limp big pairs then try to trap you by letting you bet bet bet and they are just unable to fold.

I bet big on all streets. I like the flop, but the turn c/r is bad. Just bet again, around potsize. I'd lead for 11 on river as played, he's only paying you off with worse with an overpair and it's unlikely he will fold that to a big bet at this point.
