Re: 2/4: 99 hand: maybe simple hand but questioning crazy stuff
[ QUOTE ]
meh, i'd rather raise with any two cards when the SB limps than raise 99 in the SB. i know that is a different statement to not raising with 99 in SB, but in general when it's a blind vs blind situation ill be very aggressive when in the BB. also i guess it is entirely opponent dependent when im in the SB. some 18/9 or general nitty tag ill raise 100% with 99, but if it's some 24/20 who i feel knows the importance of position and will float a lot on the flop then i won't raise. [/ QUOTE ] raising with 99 is for value. 99 will often be the best hand at showdown in BvB battles. |

Re: 2/4: 99 hand: maybe simple hand but questioning crazy stuff
i have started a new thread, becuase i think this is a fundamental preflop decision which i think needs discussing.
zaid, it's only for value if you get to see a showdown, which i think is rare. i think it's far better to lessen the number of streets of value when dealing with a marginal hand vs a tricky 24/21 who will be willing to put you to tough decisions. edit: please put any discussion about pf in the other thread and discussion about the 445 flop play in here, sorry snowbank for changing the discussion from flop to pf. |

Re: 2/4: 99 hand: maybe simple hand but questioning crazy stuff
I love how every thread ends up being some stupid PF argument. Yes, you should raise 99 there and I'm sure bill wasn't questioning that part of the hand.
Anyway, assuming you don't have any reads, c/r on the turn is better than your line, but c/f is certainly an option too. Im surprised every1 wants to stack off here. I mean once we call the flop raise, villian can't think we're folding to a turn bet all that often. Bill I'd like your line a lot more if you thought this guy was capable of calling w/like A5 or something. |

Why do people care that much about preflop?
