2/4: 99 hand: maybe simple hand but questioning crazy stuff

Running like crap so maybe this is simple but questioning everything now to make sure. I have 99. folded to me in the sb. I raise to $18. He calls. flop is 454 2 hearts. I bet $33. He min raises. I shove. Standard or spewy?

I either play it the same way, or CR a safe turn if villain is aggro, since this is fairly often air.

personally i wouldn't raise from the SB. when he calls playing 99 oop is not fun. i'd much rather limp in and disguise my strength. 99 oop is a small pot hand imo.

as played, i probably call and check turn.

I would never ever limp w/ 99 in this spot, neither w/ 22. I raise and pick up the pot w/ a CB often enough to make that profitably itself.

i'd raise with 90% of my hands if folded round and SB limps and im in the big blind (obv slow down if he started limp-reraising me), but you by raising in the SB and c-betting you are setting yourself up for a hand where you have no idea what he has when he calls, yet you will show a lot of weakness if you then check the turn and he fires.

that is a situation when the pot escalates and your in trouble, i can't think of many flops+turn when your in good shape without hitting a 9 in a escalating pot, but a lot when you have no idea.

also if your aiming to steal the blinds, i'm happy to just limp and fire a flop, as you could then have anything, and he'll miss 1 in 3.

meh, i'd rather raise with any two cards when the SB limps than raise 99 in the SB. i know that is a different statement to not raising with 99 in SB, but in general when it's a blind vs blind situation ill be very aggressive when in the BB.

also i guess it is entirely opponent dependent when im in the SB. some 18/9 or general nitty tag ill raise 100% with 99, but if it's some 24/20 who i feel knows the importance of position and will float a lot on the flop then i won't raise.
