[ QUOTE ]
I bet the turn because we are ahead so very often. Since the turn wasn't bet, I'm tempted to raise the river. [/ QUOTE ] You could raise the river, but the PFRer could have AQ or Ax [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] . It could be in his range, or mine or yours for that matter. |

[ QUOTE ] That was my worry on the turn. If they called the flop bet with a draw, they were calling a turn bet. [/ QUOTE ] So, by your logic, you shouldn't have bet the flop either. Actually, by extension, don't raise preflop because someone might have an ace. I think you need to question yourself about what you expect to accomplish in poker. Sincerely, good luck. [/ QUOTE ] This post wins. I don't really care what you do on the river because the turn check is a monstrous mistake and is the only reason this decision is this complicated. |

btw whoever said our turn bet was breakeven if they both have draws is wrong. Even if we assume we are against the NUT flush draw and a straight draw and that none of their outs overlap at all, the cards that beat us are 3 Aces, 8 hearts, and 6 other straight cards. That's 17 cards out of 42 that beat us, we are still winning well over half the time in this case. And we don't need to win half the time to profit from a turn bet.

Chico, you really need to understand why in this hands AND HAD LIKE IT that this is a trivially easy bet on the turn.
Micro stakes holdem is all about value betting and this is a very standard value bet. Part of the essence of the value bet is that you think you have the best hand and you want your opponents to pay....it often doesnt matter what draw they have or whether they have the correct odds to call...you should still bet (yes, like most things, there will be exceptions LDO). Giving free cards when your opponent has a draw is usually costing you monies. Get their money whilst they are drawing cos you probably wont get it when they miss their draw. |
