Re: Housemate has a really annoying habit
I would tell him about it.
Then you can get into some stupid nitfest argument about what you do that annoys him. And then you can settle it with a drunken "brawl" at 3am. Works for me and my roommates at least! |

Re: Housemate has a really annoying habit
Mimick his sounds as he's doing them. Even a bit louder than he does them. Move your hands as you hold the "air teacup" up to your lips.

Here's a good rule of thumb: If your roommate's issue is not more annoying than banging chicks in your bed, then keep it to yourself. [/ QUOTE ] So you'd let a lathe in the living room slide? I thought this was the OOT line for annoying. I voted not to be a nit, unless of course he drinks tea 24/7. How often/long does he drink tea that this needs to be an issue? |

the clear answer is to make the same slurping with tea and/or soup, he'll ask you to stop, then you can continue to do passive-aggressive things to each other until he finally moves out. [/ QUOTE ] awesome |

Re: Housemate has a really annoying habit
About 3 times a day. Takes 7-10 minutes to get past the loud slurping stage. Just sucks when he does it and I'm playing some tables. INSTATILT.

Anything at or above level 6 should be posted. Everything else, OP should just man up. |

[/ QUOTE ] Alright, have you ever said anything to him about this before? How did he react? If you haven't ever mentioned to him that it annoys you and you instead brought it to OOT first, then you need to learn how to handle some of the curve balls that life might throw your way. This doesn't sound like it should be a big thing. I'd suggest using 4_2_it's scale to judge your posts going forward... although I think I would flip 8 & 9, but that's just me. |

Re: Housemate has a really annoying habit
My roommate does this whenever he drinks or eats *anything*. I just avoid him while he is eating or drinking. He sometimes makes the sound when he says something smart-ass, which is probably why the sound bother me at all. Man up.

Re: Housemate has a really annoying habit
I had a roommate who was a very loud eater. It was pretty bad and I wanted to help him out since he was oblivious to his lip smacking.
The first time I casually commented on how much noise he was making. That was a temporary fix. A month or so later I told him what he was doing and that it was a habit that a lot of people find annoying or disgusting, so it's something he should try to be aware of, especially when on a date or at a business dinner. That didn't really hold either, so I just learned to live with it. Now I don't live with him anymore. |
