Who raises 4 BB preflop in a SNG at level 1 with weaker Ks and Qs? Maybe KJ/QJ, but I can't see a lot worse than that. So basically you're calling to make a little money the < 1/3 of the time you flop TP, assuming you aren't crushed. There's very little implied odds to this as I see it.

I dunno, I can't totally put my finger on why I don't like this. But it just feels like the way calling stations play.

Would you call a 3x raise? If it was the button raising I'd toss it without any thought but having position is huge. I don't see why he wouldn't make this same raise with a weaker king or queen. The guy is a loser so there's no reason to think we won't get some chips when he hits 2nd pair or thinks his ace high is good.

and i still don't like the call at the flop..
this ain't the protecting 2+2 style.
do we really have to just call for potcontrol?

So what's your plan if a K or Q flops and he bets ~1/2-2/3 pot on every street? Yeah I guess if he's a loser you can call him down.

But to answer your question, yeah I would probably be a lot more likely to call 3BB. 4BB in a losing player very often means a real hand, like mid PP or ace with good kicker. Neither of those is going to pay you off much. Just my gut feeling when I see that.

The small blinds defenitely make playing this tougher. So your line works. I would like a flop raise here as well though. Since you would have to prolly fold if he pushes your line works too.

very close here

have not read all the responses but i like it.

preflop seems pretty standard.

flop - not too darwy bvb, so i like a call. at this point i'm thinking i want to get to a reasonably priced showdown and win 400-500 chips.

turn - check behind is nice. it is gonna get you to showdown for the right price and you can get your value bet in on river if villian checks.

river - looks good.
