Re: the top pair vs. random 25/50
[ QUOTE ]
cold calling the three bet is normally a big hand, right? sometimes ppl call somewhat loosely (I remember a time when cts advocated/went through experimentation of callign w/ ATC and checkshoving the flop or somethign bc the line SCREAMS KK/AA etc.) in any case; A 8 3 is dry, and when the board pairs on the end the 8 (and we have an ace) it leaves just 1 combo of 88 and 1 combo of AA. hero's line looks like a very scared hand - which it is - and nothing too strong, which is why i think you have a great chance of inducing a bluff. the only real hand he coudl be value shoving is a bigger ace, and that narrows it down to ak or maybe aq... some ppl fold aq to the 3bet anyway... and some people 4bet cold with ak. so yeah, getting almost 2;1 (esp. given turn call) and not too many 'better' hands he can have, i think it's worth looking him up. id fold kk-jj etc. tho only because the fact you have an ace skewers the combos. tough spot all around though but i think you played it well.. [/ QUOTE ] This all sounds really good. |

Re: the top pair vs. random 25/50
the way you played the hand you have KK so i call the river, but i really, really think bet flop is better.

[/ QUOTE ] angelica is strange he is like a lil fishy preflop in weird spots like these despite having 24/19ish stats, but then postflop if you show any sign of weakness whatsoever he goes ballswild with whatever he has even if it has showdown value. several times i've had spots just like this hand vs him where i check the nuts (top pair) to him and he goes ape with 88 on three streets |

KOD say you bet the turn in the A9 hand and then checked the river and then he/she? shoved still a call? [/ QUOTE ] I had basically no read at the time. She was at both my tables so I actually assumed she was a reg with a new name (better assumption than that she is godawful imo). With that in mind, betting the turn and giving up after that is probably correct. With the knowledge I have now I would've check called the whole way down. |

Re: the top pair vs. random 25/50
I feel he might have A 8, betting the turn, by the size of his bet it looks like he wanted you to get sucked in and force to bluff if you had nothing. He might also have like p3. Dont think you would play 3's different then he did. Also in that case forcing you to bet. Dont think he had KK/QQ in this case again by the size of bet, and bet on river.

Re: the top pair vs. random 25/50
anyone else think betting the flop makes this hand 7.5x more simple?
