I cant see how check-raising the river can be good here. Vilain checked the turn through here and there is not any evidence that he will bet this ace on the end.

Isn't that all the more reason to 3-bet, since we've pretty much agreed to not folding to a cap? It makes calling the cap a little easier, doesn't it?

I agree, but I'd probably want to 3-bet the river given the way PJ played it. Instead of just calling. I like CRing the river because checking twice shows extreme witness and our sLag friend will often bet the river with weak hands.
