"BTW I try to keep the carbs low, because they cause me to have MASSIVE hunger pains (insulin crash) about 2h after I eat them. "

your diet log begs to differ...you have carbs at every meal...and most of them are crap...

and since you are trying to lose fat you should increase protein and fat because you shouldn't be getting many cals from carbs...

[/ QUOTE ]

definitely.

check out the TNT Diet at

Science of the TNT Diet

Although I am changing to a different weightlifting & HIIT program today, I have been following the nutrition guidelines from this diet and have lost 18 lbs. in about a month, eating such things as eggs, bacon, cheese & mushrooms, onions, green peppers for breakfast. I also haven't counted my calories a single day. I have had no more than 50 grams of carbs in a day and NO sugar products (Splenda for instance doesn't effect insulin levels & I use it daily with my coffee) since starting this diet and they are almost ALL carbs from vegetables, etc., not processed carbs such as SunChips.

I am not at all demanding you do this diet or anything like that but the science behind this diet (why it's important to keep carbs low, and have them only at certain times) is a great read.

NOTE: This REALLY should be spaced out through the day. Your body can only absorb so much protein at a time so if you starve your body until dinner and intake all of your daily needed grams of protein, most of it will not be used.

This pretty meh as far as research goes. Like peak amounts that can be absorded at each sitting.

mindflayer,

I assume you've done almost no fitness reading.

QFT

Mindflower why are you doing this thread as opposed to reading the FAQ and simply getting on Starting Strength/finding out way more about nutrition since the protein discussion was insane?

I'm glad you're pretty dedicated to doing this and you certainly have goals you can hit but... do the research first... read the FAQ, buy starting strength, read t-nation.

Yeah, I have actually read differing views on this too. If there is a limit to what you can process it would highly depend on your size. I guess my point is that it isn't smart to sleep all night and not wake up to some protein, or go all day without eating any protein, then try to get it all in in one sitting. You want a steady supply of protein which is why a lot of people recommend a casein protein shake before bed. It is absorbed by your system at a slower rate than whey protein and gives you a longer supply of protein to absorb during the night. As to the point of trying to get 150+ grams of protein in one meal, this is an incredibly high protein intake for one meal and I'd highly suspect a lot of this isn't getting used and is merely passing through. I'm no doctor though and just relaying what I've learned from reading.

This is just drivel. The rest of your post makes you come off as a tool. Especially that asinine grin at the end. Some of what you say is true. But to go out and support off the wall theories and backing it with an "appeal to authority" fallacy is ghey.

wow! Excuse me for trying to provide input......dick!!

I can provide links to at least 5 weightlifting forums where there are multiple pages of arguments with referalls backing both sides of the protein absorption debate with no conclusive answers.

So why do you spout off your personal views as written in granite truths when these things are still up for debate?

So my 110 lb. girlfriend will absorb the same amount of protein as Ronnie Coleman?

LOL_idiotaments

No really. Do you not understand what other factors affect your ability to digest food other than your size? And WTF does size even mean? Do really fat people digest better? I mean they are fat. They should have super efficient digestive tracts. Ergo if you eat a lot obv there are no outside factors that determine this.

Actually on further thought you are perfectly correct. The is an exact linear relationship between protein you can digest and your size. Thank you for that excellent example.
