Re: Im a DJ, check out the new mix!
uh you still havent listed anything in particular.
i think i did one 8 bar mix in the whole thing (which isnt a bad thing anyway.) this isnt trance, you dont mix for 2 minutes, ldo. [ QUOTE ] Just because you mix in a new track at the end of an 8 count doesn't mean it flows right. Some songs sound/feel different from others and this isn't something that can be taught. Like I said, try listening to the songs. And don't play that mix at a funk club unless you want the whole room wondering if you've ever danced a day in your life. [/ QUOTE ] |

Can't get the file anymore. Could someone who downloaded it already host this mix somewhere so we could download it?

Re: Im a DJ, check out the new mix!
Your first mix is not terrible but definatly a lot that you could improve on. Your mixes seem to create little to no energy. By this I mean you beat mix out of song one and then just drop song one to the beat of song 2 before that song has really gotten into it. The only time I found this kind of mixing effective is when you have someone strong on the mic to fill the blank beat spaces. (I hope this make sense)
I also disliked most of your accapella drops, you often picked songs in different keys or off timing. IMO these are very difficult to do well and I think the majority of DJs are best off keeping these away from the dancefloor. Overall I think you could step into a nightclub with no problems. Although I live in a smallish city most of the DJs here can't even beat mix to save their lives. In the end the most important thing you can do is song selection and I think you did a fine job of that for a top 40 club. Once you get into an actual club you will find theres a lot to learn in regards to reading your crowd and when/how to building and drop the energy. Mix 2: Honestly I didn't listen much to your mixing, there seemed to be a lot of slams which is totally fine. I absolutely loved the song choices. Awesome. My creditentials: I've DJed regularly several 1k+ capacity rooms for over 5 years. |
