I think your stack is too shallow (and his is too big) for you to make this call preflop.
This is a check-fold flop. I don't like leading, nor do I like check-raising. You won't get credit for much. Regarding your push, I think you get called down with A-high far too often. |

[ QUOTE ]
heres my reasoning: 1. kj s is too strong to fold against a pos 5 raiser but not the hand i want to committ my stack to preflop. i want to play and evaluate. 2. the flop misses a good part of his range. 3. im representing a made hand and i have just enough to get him to fold. 4. if he calls i probably have 6 outs. 5. i did not want to lead bet bluff bc he has more options, here ive left him 2 choices 6. i followed my gut which said the play would work. my gut is usually right but i don't follow it enough. especially in 2 spots a) i smell weakness but im weak so i don't make the gutsy move b) im strong but i sense someone is stronger but i don't fold. b is more costly but both are my weaknesses. he folded. [/ QUOTE ] 1. Wrong-ish depending on many things. 2. His and yours. 3. Calling pre-flop does not represent a made hand. 4. Or you're dominated the other half the time. 5. your stack isn't big enough and you have no FE now that he got 800 in. He gets odds to call with any draw becuase he got 800 chips in already. Now he has to call less. If he best 1500 do you push still? Because that's even worse as he can now call 1500 into about 4k. It's for this reason I don't like c/r AI bluffs as opposed to open shoving the flop. 6. I am the same way too often. Ok Ham... you've been around here for long enough to know this. Put your frickin hands into a convertor from now on for god sake. |

I'd rather try this on a 522r flop than a 522cc flop. Plus every time I try this its usually snap called and I feel like an idiot.
I'd probably shove preflop anyway unless I felt his opening range in the CO was v.slim |
