Re: PLO 5/10 350bb deep flopped nut straight
This is one of the most interesting posts I’ve ever seen because it gives an opportunity for a nice lesson to be learned. (Its so interesting that, after reading posts for some time now, I registered to post this one )
The user posted this hand in segments, asking users their opinion about the next move, given the information that, the opponent is very loose and very aggressive (as we can clearly see here). The real lesson is that, based on that info only, there is NO RIGHT OR WRONG ANSWER for a 3rd person, not involved in some hands with that opponent for some time. Here is why… My best guess is this. The opponent saw a raise from the Hero and immediately (like most players do) put him on AAXX or on hi-mid cards (over 8 or 9) with minimum gaps, at least single suited. Then he saw a rainbow flop of low cards. It’s not an unusual play against a single raiser heads up, to try to push him of a hand with a flop like this, with any 4 cards. I would certainly made that play against a weak opponent, especially if I had any set or even if I flopped “fool’s straight”. You don’t need the nuts or draw to the nuts to play like this. From the hero’s point of view, all depends upon previous observation of earlier hands (…and there is no way for a 3rd person to have that information). If I was the hero in this hand and saw my opponent make such aggressive plays with sets or less, I would raise the turn. If I saw my opponent play like that only with the nuts or draw to nuts, I would be more careful to just call his bet on turn and evaluate his river move. AGAIN : All depends upon previous observation of earlier hands. PS. Its more likely that this guy had “fool’s straight” or 2 pair because, he was so pot committed after his bet on turn that, if he had a set, it’s likely he would call hero’s raise with 10 outs to a full house. |

[ QUOTE ]
honestly, I didnt know what it means and what to do so I just pushed. That is what scandinavian aggro monkeys do when they panic I had a feeling I was still ahead but I guess that is just because of my SH/HU NL background. [/ QUOTE ] I'm pretty sure even us North American aggro monkeys do the same . Sweet hand though. Would have been even sweeter if you "knew" he had 79xx and would fold it. |
