Default PLO 5/10 350bb deep flopped nut straight

New to PLO so I get quite clueless especially when it comes to playing deep. Its like 6am in euroland and villain is playing overly loose and aggressive. I have been running hot and been pushing the weak tighties my fair share.

What do you think of 3-betting the flop a) small b) pot? I thought that smallish 3-bet might might have made him push over the top with some trash, too, but I am not so sure about that. and that might lose value from sets and bluffs, and we dont have any real redraws. This hand continues later.. Also, is PF to loose even with these stacks? there wasnt too much 3-betting at least..

Preflop is fine. On the flop, if the villian is as described, you should not consider folding at all. Calling is good if he will continue to fire the turn but unless he feels you are playing back at him a lot I think raising the flop to induce a bluff generally ain't gonna work.

You've got position, I'd be inclined to use it, just call and see if you can make the pot huge on a blank turn.

Preflop is too loose. This is a fold for me at least.

I completely agree with wazz. Considering stack sizes and the fact that you are in position I smooth call the raise and repot any blank turn he bets into me.

nice stack.

Don't 3b the flop, too many things can change before the river. If you wait to get your money in on a later street you can do it with more equity, and you can get away cheaper if the board pairs or a BD flush comes.

Hero Calls

Turn: [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]9
villain: Bet $765.00 (Pot)

now it really gets interesting. if there was no more or little money left this would be a fairly standard AI but now what?? This turn is essentially why I wanted to post this hand. Also, I normally fold this PF. I was perhaps getting tired or something or wanted to come after the villain a bit. dunno.

Tough turn. How does he view you? I'd tend to call this and reevaluate the river, but I might be inclined to fold to a pot-sized river lead assuming it blanks.

Nasty spot. You're so deep I think I just call here and hope he doesn't pot the river. Having said that, the chances he has 79T in his hand isn't that great particularly since you have a 7 and 9 and there's now another 9 on the board.

As a newbie to PLO, can someone explain to me why you wouldn't raise the flop? The only hands that are ahead of you are 79Tx hands, right? And even then, you're going to tie if a 9 doesn't hit.

Because if we Reraise the reraise we are basically telling him we have 79xx. If we wait for the turn card, we can allow him to bet alot of other hands beside 79Tx and 79xx and get better value. All the while protecting our hand from the times we see 79Tx or 7986 or 7988 etc. We can see a safe turn card before we are comfortable sticking so many BBs in with a made hand and no redraw. Repotting the flop just puts us in a place where we are splitting at best (or looking for a backdoor flush).
