Really? Down to Q5s? I waited for a decent hand and eventually called him (last to act) with KJ. I assume from the responses that was a +EV call?

It would be if you had unlimited BR. I'd never call without an ace.

Thanks fees. I can actually thank Stuey for the kickass avatar.

I obviously don't have an unlimited BR, and I'm actually just about exactly rolled for this game. But my thinking with calling with KJ is that I'm way ahead of any 2, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

The bigger consideration is your position relative to others who still have to act. Its not the maniac you need to concern yourself with... its the other players who may be waiting to trap.

One note- If you only have 1 full buyin then you shouldn't be playing.

Against a guy like this I call top 50% as the value you gain from having a bigger stack is huge. If you double up you can take even more of his stack next time and you can wait for a better spot to do it.

This applies mainly if your comfortably rolled for where your at and dont mind a bit of variance. Theres nothing wrong waiting for AT+ etc here though if you dont want to gambool.

NLHE T&P gives a specific range for EV+ AI calls against ATC. As I recall its just about what Fees gave as a range.

Though the range only applies if you are last to act.

i'd talk to him and try and figure out how many buyins he has. if he's short banked, you wouldn't really have to use an optimal strategy to bust him if you're not.
