Note: These are reviews of the "Nevada" hotel, NOT the El Cortez.
[ QUOTE ] This is priceless: I stayed at this hotel and left an hour after I arrived. In the reservations it specifically said there was Air-conditioning and a phone. It was over 85 degrees that day and the hotel had not turned on the Air-conditioning for the season. They said the whole buildings gets turned off/on at the same time. They also advertised a phone, unfortunately they didn’t tell you that it's in the lobby not in your room. I wrote a letter to the company that sent me to the hotel (another search engine) and the Better Business Bureau. The response from the hotel was their phone system was "down". They specifically lied and still charged my credit card after we left. I never received a refund. Stay away from this Hotel!!! but this one is better I've stayed at dozens of hotels in Las Vegas, ranging from budget hotels to penthouse suites. This was, by far, the worst hotel I've ever stayed at - in or out of Vegas. The view from our room was another building a few feet away, and a dirty alley at street level. The television was so out of date, it had dials. There was no phone in the room. The headboard was falling off the wall. Even the hangers weren't standard hotel hangers - they were from local dry cleaners. And they're "casino" was just a few poker machines. Don't even consider staying here. Ever. but this one takes it (Title is DEAD CRACKWHORE IN ROOM) Girlfriend and i checked into this pig sty on 11/24 during thanksgiving. When we opened our door we found a dead or totally passed out filthy crack whore on the floor of our room! We left instantly and tried to get our money back. Front desk clerk wouldnt credit my credit card because it was a holiday and they were booked up! He said he would sent room service to our room to clean it better! I asked him if room service always cleans up dead people, and he justed laughed. He then said " why do you think our dumpsters are so big?". What the hell did that mean?? Anyways I`d rather sleep in the alley behind this place rather than in it. What a dump. [/ QUOTE ] |

I actually stayed at the Golden Spike in 99 and it was actually decent. Small 1 person room but it is on Fremont so as long as you do not go down any side streets, you are safe.

[ QUOTE ]
The El Cortez is a holy place, much like Mecca. The Cortez, Spike, Ogden House all have clean rooms. That is about the most that can be said. The Western Hotel and Casino is different story. Everyone should spend a day or two at the Cortez and Western. It is a good lesson in what can happen to you if you continue to make -EV plays. [/ QUOTE ] A little unrelated, but I hear the El Cortez has the lowest limit craps in town. Is this true? |
