I've had a hand almost exactly like this. The villain had 3 of a kind on the showdown when I called his crazy flop-raise. It could be the same case here. Anyway if it isn't, this flop is all over the place. The read that seems to strike me is that he's on 99, TT, QQ. Perhaps 5x or 7x. As played I'd fold.

ugly. But I think his range is wider than sets. Certainly no overcards. And probably no flush draw. But big pairs that he wouldn't reraise with are certainly in his range. TT, JJ, QQ. Either way you are playing for stacks here if you continue. If you think he is nitty and waits for hands to get payed off, fold. Otherwise push.

Agreed. Got me thinking, on such a dry flop and HU situation, I think he'll probably just smoothcall the flop and raise the turn, if he's on a set. Could be that he's on TT, JJ, QQ... If he's on overpairs, he'll probably fold to a shove.

Smooth-call and c/r allin on the turn, if you intend to take it to the felt.

Dry flop?

My bad, I didn't mean it. What i meant was low cards. Don't think Villain is on a draw, unless he's calling a raise with 75s, or Axs, I don't think we're that wary of draws.

A set seems more likely, or overpairs.

What my thinking here was, would villain really play a set this fast? Why try to push me off a losing hand if he has it made?

[/ QUOTE ]This is exactly what he's trying to make you think. Put yourself in his shoes, would you raise this flop with a set after somebody bets into you? I would 100% as well as A4cc/45cc/47cc and maybe 67/78/65 which have lots of outs against overpairs as well.

you made the right decision on the flop. the size of buttons stack is a tell. a player with a stack like that got that way cause he likes to gamble, you just don't remember the times where players like that go bust. so its not a surprise that this dude bets his hand as if he has the stone cold nuts

it was wrong of me to say that a big stack is always a tell of a loose/aggressive player, but if a player has a big stack and he's calling/raising a buncha hands, that's a strong tell
