Re: 200NL - Bottom set on flop, PLZ HELP.
Yeah, I mean in the longrun it is +EV to jsut get it in on this flop. I think im just being results oriented in my situation because on a very similar flop i lost to a straight with top set.

4-bet?? btw i think calling for a safe turn and popping it now both have merit. [/ QUOTE ] Hand is pretty vunerable against this board, and we are playing live, where people luv their "pot-odds!", we need to raise and try and get the money in on the flop. Especially if villain is bad like OP has implied. Would much rather isolate the villain who led the flop, vs playing this hand against several drawers and having them hit the turn. |

Calling to reduce variance loses a lot of value

Re: 200NL - Bottom set on flop, PLZ HELP.
I'd raise and raise big enough that a reraise by him all in would be a relatively small raise. He made a tiny bet into that pot - I'd raise him up to $85 or $90 and hope he pushes.

Re: 200NL - Bottom set on flop, PLZ HELP.
betting 20 to a 48 pot screams that it's a draw. if he has a str8 you are not in a bad shape. I'm concerned about the others behind you though.
Do they cover you? I mean if they do, going all in there, is like moving in, in a 2/4 game, unraised pot on a clearly connected board(6 people). And even the worst players get the cards I'd rather call and raise on a safe turn. |

Re: 200NL - Bottom set on flop, PLZ HELP.
DO NOT JUST CALL
There's countless draws and more than half the table is holding cards. It's fairly likely you have the best hand. It's fairly likely that if you let everyone at the table see a cheap turn/river you will get outdrawn. Perhaps more importantly, in loose live games like this people will call sometimes crazy large raises with whatever junk flush/straight draws they have - but will be much less likely to call a huge bet on a brick turn. Very easy raise here, and raise big. |

There is 1 option here: raise.
I don't think it takes any explaining on this board. |

Re: 200NL - Bottom set on flop, PLZ HELP.
In the hand, I raised to $80 total. Villain started mumbling about me being on a heart draw (I think that's what he said... he was mumbling) and then he shoved in. It was $212 more back to me.
Still an easy call? |

Re: 200NL - Bottom set on flop, PLZ HELP.
I dunno, in a live game I find that people are less liable to push their draws as hard as they do online. I'd still probably be putting my money in, but I'd much rather be the pusher than the caller. As it turned out, looks like you played it ok. Perhaps the flop raise was too small: Pot is $88 with your call in, so raise should be in the $100 region.
Call a shove. |
