The only part of this story that makes me feel bad is that he got life and not the chair. The cops should have been fired or suspended.

[/ QUOTE ]

These cops that beat him are in a position of power and should be held to a higher standard for their behavior. I'm not saying that they should be criminally prosecuted, but they should be held accountable in some way because of the position of authority that they hold.

Let's say the kid instead shot the cop in the leg, would the beating still be justified? How about if he spit in his face? This is why we have a court system in place to help determine punishment for crimes committed. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to be shedding any tears for this kid, I just don't think that giving the cops a free pass in this case is a good thing.

1) He is lucky they didn't kill him on sight
2) He is lucky he doesn't have to eat through a straw for the rest of his life
3) Finally, he is lucky a machine doesn't have to do his breathing for the rest of his life

Anything that was done to him was not enough, and i hope he gets raped daily in jail

I do not think what they did was okay at all, I obviously understand it though. People need to learn to get sad instead of mad in situations like this, [censored] the moron cop killer up does no good at all, it only does more wrong.

I would beat him within an inch of his life and let him recover to do it again.
'People' like this deserve no leniency at all. To hell with what is 'proper.'

Then again im also all for taking the hands of theives, the immediate lives of murderers etc.

If someone shot my friend point blank in the face, and me and a group of my friends caught him, we'd beat the [censored] out of him. Same thing here.

No doubt he deserved it, but nonetheless the police should have been punished if they broke the law. The police cannot be allowed to usurp the roles of judge and jury. No exceptions should be made.

Fortunately, the justice system is not designed around what 'you would do', but what is fair.
