Weird money situation with a roommate/friend oot help?

I had a friend start a tourney for me that I thought I would be late for. I actually got there like 5 minutes after it started and sat behind him and told him what to do a lot then I took over. We made it to a split and won a total of 2200 for 2nd place. I went to my car and got my check book. He had a check in about 5 minutes after us finishing the tourney and I never even thought of not giving what I told him I'd give him, 50%. You're a huge [censored] for even asking this question.
