Re: Ugh i messed this up (deep vs 2p2er)
If I was villain holding 99, I'm never going to shove my set especially with the heart on the river and the Queen on the river. Thus why I like the block bet

Re: Ugh i messed this up (deep vs 2p2er)
I realize the results have been posted, but I think this hand has an interesting psychological dynamic that hasn't been discussed. Villian has just won a big pot. Hero is also deep and could be assumed to be having a good session.
Most players are not likely to take a high risk play when they are doing well. If we don't know either opponents hole cards and are simply observing, we should be able to assume that both players either have a strong ace, set, or strong draw when the turn is bet and called. When hero bets the river, we should be able to rule out a flush. If he did call the turn with a FD, it should be with the intention of taking a large portion of villians stack when the flush hits. This river bet does not look like that kind of bet. It looks more like a hand that does not want to be raised, but wants some value. The most likely hand is a strong ace, as AA and QQ or 33 doesn't make a whole lot of sense. When villian raises, the most obvious hand would be a flush although a set isn't totally out of the question. Hero should fold to this raise and villian should be raising anything that beats AQ. |
