It's also possible a couple players can know each other without colluding.

I've ended up at the same table with a friend of mine from my town before.

Our online names are nothing alike but one player was highly suspicious of us just because we had the same hometown.

But similar names and same hometown would have me suspicious also. But that would only be my first step. I would then be watching their play somewhat closely and then trying to determine if it seemed like they were sharing hole-card info with each other or were possibly colluding worse than that or what.

I think reporting it to the site and letting them check the playing history of the two players is your best bet.

Depends on the city. If it's LA or NY (etc.) I wouldn't put much stock in it. If it's some remote city in Montana then I would be pretty suspicious.

Quite possibly. Depending on what the name is, people from the same city are often MORE likely to have similar names than those from different cities. This is because some people choose names based on something indigenous to their area, be they places, local famous people, sports teams, etc; and some names are common to certain languages, cultures, etc.

HAYCHAYCHAYCHAYCHYA

their names were both
"ATHELETES LAST NAME">"ATHELETES LAST NAME"
"ATHELETES LAST NAME">"ATHELETES LAST NAME"

I just mailed stars asking them if it was kosher, they said yes. They were both donks so nothing really major, I was just wodnering If i should have done something.

In my opinion you did the right thing. Collusion is more rampant than most people care to acknowledge and the first step is making the site admins aware of who is doing what

I saw these 2 clowns on stars last night too. You should mention that they also join and leave tables at the exact same time. They both left one table I was on, and an hour later they both joined another table I was on.

no idea they arent very good:/ just seems extremly weird

[/ QUOTE ]
If they're bad players why bother? I've seen people collude via chat and as long as I was making money I didn't care much.
What bothers me is the kind of collusion I don't detect or if I lose money on suspect plays like one dude folding a for one bet on the river in a threeway pot after: two bets pre, cap flop, cap turn, river: bet raise fold bettor folds.......

There was an article I read like a 1-2 years ago about some mid-high stakes player that played on party poker, in it they interviewed him and he talked about how he had multiple names on party and would sit down 7 names at the same table and pick apart the few people that sat at that table. To me it always seemed kinda fake after I thought about it for a bit, Im wondering if anyone read this article (dont know what mag. it was but its a US mag.) Im not sure if this was before or after the whole z justin thing
