Re: Going Pro, What should I tell the boss?
You're under no obligation to tell him anything. If you think he'll be cool with it, tell him the truth. If not, or if you don't have a close enough rapport with him, say the general "I've chosen to pursue other options."

Re: Going Pro, What should I tell the boss?
[ QUOTE ]
If your gonna play professionally I hope you have done some math and also hope youll play mostly live??? You don't have to tell work anything. The day they don't have work for you, do you think they will come up with a story for you? No they will just send you home. To be on good terms requires a 2 week notice. Type up a one or two sentence note and turn it it. "I resign" usually covers it. Typically, most places will just relieve you then. Depending. I hope you have at least 100k to start, and about another 50 to support shlt. Plus living expenses covered for at least 6 months. Good luck. [/ QUOTE ] You make a lot of unnecessary assumptions. |

Re: Going Pro, What should I tell the boss?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Taking money from others without providing a service should not make you feel good and only evil people would think gambling for a living is ok. [/ QUOTE ] I want to make sure you don't misinterpret this, so I'll just use 3 words: Go f*ck yourself. b [/ QUOTE ] lol. Ok, to respond to the first quote, it is possilbe to make a positive contribution as a poker player. Look at Barry Greenstein, giving his tournament winnings to charity... I'd call that benefiting society. It all depends on the person. We each can choose to make a difference, or choose not to make a difference. It's individual choice. Where we happen to be employed really doesn't matter. It's what you choose to do with your available resources that reflect on your contribution. Some people like Barry give to Charity. Others donate their time to help others. The point is that you shouldn't consider yourself limited by your profession. Think outside the box. You CAN make a difference... if you really want to. |

If your gonna play professionally I hope you have done some math and also hope youll play mostly live??? [/ QUOTE ] I can make more money playing online with less of a bankroll spending less time per day playing. I see no reason to mostly play live, unless you enjoy it more. You can practice better table selection playing online, and also play in a more comfortable environment for yourself. [ QUOTE ] I hope you have at least 100k to start, and about another 50 to support shlt. Plus living expenses covered for at least 6 months. [/ QUOTE ] 150k total to start? wtf. no way you need that much. You can earn a good living at 200nl and 400nl And you don't need a 100k bankroll. Most people on here who are pro don't mostly play live and didn't need to start with a 100k bankroll |

[ QUOTE ]
Doesn't anyone here think gambling for a living is morally wrong? How are you bettering society? Taking money from others without providing a service should not make you feel good and only evil people would think gambling for a living is ok. I feel bad for you my friend, don't quit, you'll regret it on your death bed. [/ QUOTE ] lol, 99% of people do not "better" society. read the book "The Technological Society" |
